Wendy Williams Denies She Is Suffering From Mental Health Issues After Wells Fargo Bank Froze Her Accounts

You just know Wendy Williams would be having an absolute field day with the quality and quantity of MESS that’s been on display in the celebrity gossip market. But Wendy’s got bigger things on her mind right now. According to Page Six, Wendy is currently fighting with Wells Fargo Bank over their decision to freeze her accounts and petition the courts to “appoint a temporary guardian or evaluator” as they believe she is an “incapacitated person” and the “victim of undue influence and financial exploitation.” However, in a statement from her attorney, Wendy unequivocally denies she’s in a bad way mentally or that she’s being exploited, and she has filed a restraining order against WF in an effort to get them to stop fucking with her money. So Wendy’s got plenty of MESS of her own on her hands.

Wells Fargo’s decision was made based on the word of Wendy’s former financial advisor and WF employee who first raised the alarm that she thought Wendy was of “unsound mind.” And rumors that she’s suffering from dementia certainly don’t help matters. But in Wendy’s statement, Wendy implies that the employee is just “upset because she no longer has direct and unfettered access to Wendy’s financial affairs” and accuses her of “‘malfeasance’ involving her accounts as well as ‘improper conduct in relation to their professional relationship.” According to Variety:

Wendy Williams is denying accusations about the state of her mental health following her bank Wells Fargo freezing her accounts and requesting a hearing from the New York Supreme Court to determine whether the TV personality, who has been on hiatus from “The Wendy Williams Show” since July 2021 due to health complications, is an “incapacitated person” (via Page Six) who needs a temporary guardianship.

“On behalf of Wendy Hunter, professionally known as Wendy Williams, as counsel to her and her affairs, Wendy wants the world to know that she strenuously denies all allegations about her mental health and well-being,” Williams’ attorney, LaShawn Thomas, said in a statement provided by publicist Shawn Zanotti to Variety Monday. “During this hiatus from the show, Wendy has employed holistic health professionals to help her reach optimal health during her treatment of Graves’ disease and thyroid concerns.”

Wendy has been convalescing in Florida where her son Kevin Hunter Jr. lives. And according to her statement, she “had to unfortunately bring this action because Wells Fargo has refused to honor her Power of Attorney, granting her son authority to make inquiries to the bank on Wendy’s behalf.” Wendy also stated that when she appeared in person to sort the situation out, nobody said anything to her about their concerns at the time.

Wendy can’t believe that Wells Fargo has wrongly denied her access to her funds without justification. She has spoken to several bank representatives and has even gone into a local branch and discussed this issue with bank managers, as clear evidence that there are no concerns about her state of mind. In fact, Wells Fargo’s alleged suspicions were never raised until Wendy made it known that she no longer wanted to bank at Wells Fargo due to the bank’s mishandling of her complaints against her advisor.

However, according to Page Six, WF told a New York Supreme Court Judge that the financial advisor (who Wendy had “once considered a friend”) had “witnessed signs of exploitation, including [Williams’] own expressed apprehensions about the people around her.” Here’s what a spokesperson for WF had to say in response to Wendy’s complaint. (via Variety):

“Wells Fargo’s priority is the financial well-being of Ms. Williams and the preservation of her privacy. As we have expressed to the Court, Wells Fargo is open to working with Ms. Williams’ counsel to release funds directly to her creditors for bills historically and regularly paid from her accounts.”

Yeah, this doesn’t look good. Maybe Jamie Spears has cursed Wendy, in the only way he knows how, as revenge, for the time she put a curse on him.
