Anderson Cooper And Ex Benjamin Maisani Welcomed Their Second Child

Last night, on Anderson Cooper 360, Anderson Cooper announced the arrival of his second son, Sebastian Luke Maisani-Cooper. Sebastian was born via surrogate and Anderson revealed that he’s co-parenting Sebastian and his eldest son, 22-month-old Wyatt, with his “best friend and former partner,” Benjamin Maisani (they dated from 2009 to around 2017). Anderson says that they are a family, and Benjamin is in the process of officially adopting Wyatt, whose last name will be changed to Maisani-Cooper to match his little brother’s. Anderson adds that Wyatt calls him “Daddy,” Benjamin “Papa,” and honorary uncle Andy Cohen “the sloppy bitch who replaced Kathy Griffin.

Anderson introduced little Sebastian alongside photos and a short (extremely cute) clip of the lil’ guy hiccoughing, via People:

“This is Sebastian Luke Maisani-Cooper. He was 6.8 lbs. at birth and he was healthy and happy and even his occasional hiccups, are to me, adorable,” Cooper said. “He mostly just sleeps and eats and certainly poops, but he already seems like a wise and thoughtful little chap.”

Anderson went on to thank his surrogate and her family, and mentioned his late brother, father, and mother, Gloria Vanderbilt:

“When I announced Wyatt’s birth, I said I liked to imagine my mom and dad and brother, all who are no longer alive, their arms around each other, smiling and joyful at his birth,” Cooper said. “These past 22 months, I felt them watching over us very strongly and I already feel their love for Sebastian. The family I was born into may be gone, but I feel them alive in the family we’ve created, new love, and new life.”

Anderson also announced he’s taking a couple of weeks off to spend time with his kids. Here’s the video:

This morning Anderson posted a picture of him and Sebastian cuddling the day after he was born:

I wonder how long it took for big brother Wyatt to get Sebastian alone and deliver the unfortunate news that, since Daddy doesn’t believe in inheritance, neither of them will be getting a piece of that Vanderbilt fortune. “Welcome to hell, kid.”
