THE QUEEN Confirms That Her Wish Is For Duchess Camilla To Become Queen Consort When Prince Charles Becomes King

The QUEEN has been the head of the United Kingdom since 1952 which is a pretty long time to be in charge of anything (I can’t even manage babysitting my mother’s cat for a few days without breaking down). Knowing that her reign will eventually come to an end, the QUEEN recently made an announcement about the future of the monarchy. THE QUEEN made it clear that her wish is for Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall to be given the title of Queen Consort when the time comes. A million Princess Diana stans have collapsed in shock. I didn’t know Her Majesty was also a stunt queen!

The QUEEN made the big pronouncement as part of the kick-off for her Platinum Jubilee. For a 95-year-old, she still knows how to make a scene! Via People:

The Queen confirmed her wish on Saturday for Prince Charles’ wife to get the title when her husband eventually becomes King.

Queen Elizabeth, 95, made her feelings known in a message timed to the eve of her Accession Day that this year marks the 70th anniversary of her becoming Monarch. She is the first British Monarch to celebrate a Platinum Jubilee.

She writes that “when, in the fullness of time, my son Charles becomes King, I know you will give him and his wife Camilla the same support that you have given me; and it is my sincere wish that, when that time comes, Camilla will be known as Queen Consort as she continues her own loyal service.”

“And so as I look forward to continuing to serve you with all my heart, I hope this Jubilee will bring together families and friends, neighbours and communities – after some difficult times for so many of us – in order to enjoy the celebrations and to reflect on the positive developments in our day-to-day lives that have so happily coincided with my reign.”

Camilla’s status has always been under question since her marriage to Prince Charles in 2005 (also before that when she was his side-piece). She’s slowly worked her way into the monarchy’s good graces having been made member of the Order of the Garter last year and a member of the QUEEN’s Privy Council in 2016. There were rumors that Charles was hellbent on getting Camilla the big Q, so it looks like his petitioning worked. Mummy has made it official that the Duchess will be queen (you have to earn the uppercase title!) when Her Majesty steps down. Here’s Prince Charles’ response to his mummy declaring that his darling wife will be Queen Consort in the future:

With the current QUEEN officially over it, she stuck a knife in her celebration cake and then commented that some other peon should finish cutting it. I love when old people stop giving a damn about things.

I don’t watch The Crown but they better extend the series to cover this event. I want to see the QUEEN tearfully make her announcement and the scene quickly cut to Camilla cackling loudly on her new throne!
