Open Post: Hosted By Henny Penny, The Hen Who Infiltrated The Pentagon
Contrary to all those heist films from the 90s and 00s, most government buildings are very difficult to break into. In order to pull off something like that, you need a foolproof plan, a brilliant mind, and a healthy dose of luck. Or you could be Henny Penny the chicken (and the best Henny Penny since Rose Nylund’s Henny Penny) and simply stroll onto grounds like you own the place! Hollywood better be calling Henny to cast her as the lead for the next Mission: Impossible. She’s certainly hotter and more talented than Tommy Cruise!
Henny Penny was found snooping around the Pentagon, either to steal some government plans or find some chicken feed. Like a true professional, she is keeping mum and has not revealed her reasons. HuffPo shared the details behind Henny’s adventure:
A wandering chicken was caught sneaking around a security area at the Pentagon, a local animal welfare organization said.
The loose hen was found early Monday morning near the U.S. Department of Defense headquarters, the Animal Welfare League of Arlington, Virginia, wrote on social media.
The chicken was taken into custody by one of the league’s employees.
Chelsea Jones, a spokesperson for the organization, said in an email that she couldn’t reveal the precise location where the bird was spotted.
“We are not allowed to disclose exactly where she was found,” Jones said. “We can only say it was at a security checkpoint.”
It’s also unclear where the chicken came from or how she got to the Pentagon.
The hen — which has brown feathers and a red comb and wattles — is a Rhode Island Red. Jones described the bird as “sweet” and “nervous” but said she has allowed some people to pet her.
She’s now known as Henny Penny, one of the names given to the chicken that thinks “the sky is falling” in a folk tale.
Jones said Henny Penny is being adopted by a staff member who has a small farm in western Virginia.
Now that Henny’s cover has been blown, she’s had to quit her spy career and transition into a bona fide star! The local humane society which took her into custody is selling Henny Penny shirts to raise funds and commemorate the reverse Chicken Run.
No-one asked for this but we did it anyways – get your official #PentagonChicken shirt now! With the Henny Penny stamp of approval, proceeds will go to help keep other wayward poultry out of government buildings 😉 https://t.co/NHiDbivMTh#chickeninthepentagon pic.twitter.com/sF0lzQ9N8F

And Jimmy Fallon (of course) even devoted a whole song about her exploits on The Tonight Show.
Although Henny Penny appears to have failed her mission, her story is absolutely ripe for turning into a feature film. I can see it now: Henny Penny and Nicolas Cage star in National Treasure: Fowl Play, coming to Netflix this Christmas!
