Nick Cannon Is Sorry For The Timing Of His Latest Baby Announcement

February 4, 2022 / Posted by:

At the top of this week, we all got Groundhog Day-levels of déjà-vu when Nick Cannon revealed that he was expecting his eighth child, this time with Instagram model/entrepreneur/former football wife Brie Tiesi. At this point, Nick Cannon announcing that he got another woman pregnant is pretty much like Nick Cannon announcing that he got a job hosting another TV show (which makes sense, when you consider how many kids that man has to take care of).

But this time it was different. Some people might have gotten a little yucky feeling during Nick’s latest announcement. Because it came only eight weeks after Nick’s 7th child died from a brain tumor at just five months old. Nick realized the timing of his latest pregnancy announcement was just a bit tacky, and he’s since apologized for how he handled it.

Nick’s pregnancy announcement was made on his eponymous TV show on Monday after pictures were published of Nick and Bre looking like the guests of honor at a gender reveal party. Nick told the audience he and Bre were having a boy. Nick’s previous child, a son named Zen, passed away in December from a long-term brain tumor (he shared Zen with model Alyssa Scott). Things were made especially awkward when the math was calculated. Bre was 20 weeks along, which meant that Nick was up and making babies around the time Zen received his health diagnosis.

Nick explained on Thursday’s show that he didn’t mean to come off like an insensitive dickhead, and that he really did struggle to decide when would be the right time to announce his latest upcoming child. via Page Six:

“I’m a responsible human being and I take full responsibility for everything. So I must say, I sincerely apologize to everyone involved.”

“This was always in the back of my mind, like, ‘What is the right time? How do I share this?’” Cannon explained Thursday. “I wanted to definitely respect the grieving process with [Alyssa], and Bre was respectful enough – she held off making our announcements and speaking on social media.”

People magazine says that right after Nick made the announcement that he was expecting another son, Alyssa wrote on Instagram that it was “painful having my son be a part of conversations that aren’t in alignment with his light and legacy.” Basically, Zen’s death got dragged into all of this, based solely on the proximity of his death to Nick’s big news.

Nick probably should have waited just a little while longer before popping the gender-revealing confetti at that party. Honestly, he could have waited to confirm Bre’s pregnancy right up until the moment she went into labor and tried to convince us that he got Brie pregnant the day before. Usually, that wouldn’t be a believable lie, but I don’t think it’s out of the realm of possibility to imagine Nick’s sperm working that fast.
