Janet Jackson Says That She’s Good Friends With Justin Timberlake And Everybody Needs To Move On From The Super Bowl Nipple Flash

Lifetime and A&E’s two-part Janet Jackson documentary finished airing last night, and in the special, she denied making a secret baby with her first husband James DeBarge (cut to Janet’s all grown-up secret baby throwing their mom a side-eye while babysitting Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson’s secret child), and said that even though her relationship with Michael Jackson was pretty estranged after Thriller came out, she’s never believed the allegations that he was a child molester. Janet also got into the 2004 Super Bowl Halftime Show nipple knob flash that fucked with her career and said that she and her good friend Justin Timberlake have moved on from it and so should everybody else. I’m sure everyone will follow Janet’s advice and that our final words before we breathe our last breath on our death bed won’t be, “And one other thing, FUCK JUSTIN TIMBERLAKE!

The New York Times is currently working on a documentary about the Super Bowl chichi incident in 2004 and the aftermath of that. Janet asked the filmmakers not to do it because she’s moved on and she made that clear during her own Lifetime/A&E special. After the Super Bowl “wardrobe malfunction,” Janet is the one who took the fall while Justin Timberlake’s career only went up. Janet was disinvited from the Grammys that year while Justin was still allowed to perform. Janet apologized but alleged sexual predator Les Moonves, who was the head of CBS at the time, didn’t think it was good enough and vowed to destroy her career, getting her music and videos blacklisted from MTV, Vh1, and Viacom-owned radio stations (Viacom, which is now ViacomCBS, owned CBS).

During an interview with Oprah in 2006, Janet said that she felt she took all the shit for something Justin Timberlake was also a part of and that “to a certain degree” feels like he left her to fight the wolves by herself. In a 2018 interview with Zane Lowe on Beats 1, Justin said that he and Janet “made peace” with the situation and it was resolved. And last year after The New York Times Presents Framing Britney Spears came out, Justin apologized to both Brit Brit and Janet.

During Janet’s Lifetime/A&E doc, Janet said that Justin did ask her to make an appearance during his 2018 Super Boring Halftime Show, but that she turned him down because she didn’t want to stretch out the past. And she also said that right after her titty ball SCANDALIZED us all, Justin asked her if he should say something and she told him that she wouldn’t if she was him. via The Hollywood Reporter:

In her own interview, Janet says that following the event, Justin Timberlake did reach out to her. “We talked once, and he said, ‘I don’t know if I should come out and make a statement,’” Janet recalls. “I said, ‘Listen, I don’t want any drama for you. They’re aiming all of this at me.’ So I just said if I were you, I wouldn’t say anything.”

Janet goes on to say that everybody should stop dragging Justin and move on already:

“Honestly, this whole thing was blown way out of proportion,” she says. “Of course, it was an accident. That should not have happened, but everyone is looking for someone to blame, and that’s got to stop. Justin and I are very good friends, and we will always be very good friends. We spoke just a few days ago, and he and I have moved on, and it’s time for everyone else to do the same.”

I really respect Janet Jackson’s commitment to calling that titty stunt an “accident.”  But I’m guessing that Janet telling everyone to move on is not going to make them move from the space marked “Justin Timberlake Can Go To Hell.” And I don’t think I’ll ever be able to move on from the fact that Janet’s documentary special was four hours long and La Toya Jackson didn’t even make a one-second appearance in it. She was never interviewed. I ran my Detective La Toya brand magnifying glass all over it and there was no Toy Toy. My guess is that La Toya knew that if she popped up, they’d change the name of the documentary to LA TOYA!!!!! (Featuring Some Stories From Her Sister) and La Toya didn’t want to snatch up all the attention from Janet. That must be it.
