The Night Terrors-Inducing Hacker From A 1989 Delsym Commercial!

As Boing Boing points out, in 1989, Delsym cough medicine put out a commercial where a man at work gets into a hacking fit, which transforms him into some sort of terrifying Claymation creature from HELL. Dude looks like a Wallace and Gromit character getting electrocuted while doing himself in the butt with a faulty plug-in vibrator. And because the commercial had children screaming for their parents, it was banned.

Delsym is a line of cough medicine, and in 1989, they decided to enter the horror game by delivering a commercial starring Large Marge’s equally as terrifying son. via Boing Boing:

This freaky 1989 commercial for Delsym cough syrup was pulled from the air after getting over 200 complaints from frazzled parents. Their children didn’t like to see the man in the commercial whose head turns into a grotesque, bug-eyed puppet every time he coughs.

And this commercial can also double as a warning for what kind of visions you will have if you freebase Delsym:

What doesn’t make sense to me is that a medicine commercial was yanked in 1989 for scaring children. And yet that medicine commercial starring terrifying shapeshifter Khloe Kardashian is allowed to scare us on the daily?!
