Amy Schneider Is Now The “Jeopardy!” Champion With The Second-Most Wins, Behind Ken Jennings

42-year-old software engineering manager Amy Schneider continues to whoop nerd butt on Jeopardy! Last night she claimed her 39th victory, which means she’s surpassed champion, Matt Amodio, as the second-most winning contestant in the show’s history. And she’s scored $1,319,800 in prize money. The question is, can Amy beat Ken Jennings’ 74-episode record from 2004? Don’t count on it. Ken is the one hosting Amy’s episodes. He’s probably gonna start greasing her buzzer, mumbling her Daily Doubles, and spiking her coffee with NyQuil. “What is… Amy’s passed out! And that’s a forfeit, ladies and gentlemen.”

In a statement to CNN, Amy shared that her win feels “unreal”:

“Knowing that I had this chance, I was definitely thinking about it. Then Ken said it, and I thought, ‘Alright, I just accomplished this huge thing’ and it was pretty great.”

She also did a little interview with someone from Jeopardy!’s “Clue Crew” (?!) about her win:

Amy also tweets about every one of her episodes (and only briefly fell behind after she was robbed in early January). She bemoaned getting Final Jeopardy! wrong, but expressed her disbelief that she beat Matt Amodio’s record:

Matt won his 38 consecutive games just last year. He and Amy will face off in the upcoming Tournament of Champions. Amy addressed Matt in her statement to CNN, saying, “It’s going to be an honor playing against you, and it’s going to be a tight competition.” TRANSLATION: “What’s up, Number 3? I’m gonna break your buzzing-thumbs and take a shit in your answering-mouth!”
