Jamie Lynn Spears Includes An Alleged Text Message From Britney Spears In Her Memoir

When we last left the social media-driven drama between Britney Spears and her younger sister Jamie Lynn Spears, one could assume that both sides were ready to throw up a white flag and wave until their shoulders got sore. Britney extended an olive branch to her sister, saying that she still loved her unconditionally, and Jamie Lynn responded by saying she wanted Britney to stay off the internet with her issues and just call her instead. But I guess that advice about keeping things private only applied to Britney. Because Jamie Lynn pushed this messy feud further by doing another interview with the podcast Call Her Daddy. And Jamie Lynn shares a text message from Britney in her memoir, Things I Should Have Said, and that text is making the rounds.

During Jamie Lynn’s promotion of her memoir, she expressed on Good Morning America that she doesn’t know why her older sister would be upset with her (despite Britney laying it all out on Instagram). Jamie Lynn also stressed that she didn’t really know what was going on with her sister during Britney’s conservatorship, as Jamie Lynn was just a kid who was pregnant with a kid. And also, Jamie Lynn responded to Britney’s claim that she felt hurt that her little sister would exploit her life in a book. Jamie Lynn claimed that she barely even mentions Britney in her book and that Things I Should Have Said is about her life and her life only. Except that would not be the truth, technically. Page Six reports that Jamie Lynn shares an alleged text message she got from her sister, because what’s privacy?

Jamie Lynn Spears claims to have received an apology from her estranged sister, Britney Spears – and shares the text message with the public in her new memoir.

“In a recent text from my sister, she stated herself: ‘I know it’s not your fault and I’m sorry for being so angry at you. Although I’m your big sister, I need you more than you need me and always have,’” the former Zoey 101 star writes in Things I Should Have Said.

Page Six says they reached out to Britney’s rep to verify the authenticity of the alleged text message published in Jamie Lynn’s memoir, but they had no comment. Jamie Lynn herself hasn’t said anything else on social media. Britney herself hasn’t mentioned this latest piece of information on Instagram or on Twitter. She does like to troll Jamie Lynn, so no one should be surprised if Britney addresses the situation with an emoji-filled Notes app message asking Jamie Lynn how those book sales are going.

But the big mystery here is how recent that alleged text message is. The subject of the alleged text message makes it seem like it was sent after Britney went full nuclear on Jamie Lynn and called her out on Instagram last July. Or possibly after Britney took to Instagram in November, and said she wanted her family jailed for what they allegedly sanctioned during her conservatorship. Again, we don’t know how far along Jamie Lynn was in her manuscript when she decided to add that little text message. But I’m sure it’s not beyond the realm of anyone’s imagination to picture Jamie Lynn running into her publisher’s office with her phone, saying, “Listen, this might be cheap, tacky, and a very clear betrayal of trust, but do y’all wanna publish a private text message from my sister in this thang? Cause I can save it for an Instagram Story if you don’t.
