Open Post: Hosted By Billie Eilish Defending Charlie Puth In His Stupid Feud With Benny Blanco
The last time 30-year-old TikTok phenom (cringe) Charlie Puth was dragged into the middle of some beef it ended with Lil Xan (xringe) breaking up with Noah Cyrus (cyringe) after he assumed she was cheating because she jokingly sent him a meme of Charlie’s head photoshopped onto the body of an anonymous porn star’s body with an eggplant emoji nestled in his lap. As humiliating as that association must have been for Charlie, it pales in comparison to having Billie Eilish rush to his defense on TikTok because another grown man has publicly insulted him, also on TikTok. Even more embarrassing though is being the 33-year-old man on the other side of that TikTok tirade so congratulations to Benny Blanco (?!?) for exhausting my capacity to cringe any further. This beef is so silly I’ve somehow managed to cringe myself inside out!
While we may be confused as to who they are and why Charlie and Benny have come into our lives, we all know who Billie Eilish is, no thanks to Doug the Pug who tried his best to steal the spotlight at the 2019 People’s Choice Awards! Still, somehow, Billie managed to rise from the shadows to eventually eclipse Doug in record sales if not natural-born charisma. And what’s a girl to do with all that clout? Apparently, she uses it to clap the fuck back. According to E! News, the trouble started when songwriter/producer/DJ/Dr. Luke protégé Benny started posting TikTok’s disparaging Charlie’s good name which also happens to be the onomatopoeic equivalent to a particularly airy Castilian fart.
For months now, Blanco, a.k.a. Benjamin Levin, has been posting videos targeting Puth, making fun of his voice and telling him to “Shut the fuck up Charlie.” After a while, the 30-year-old singer, songwriter and producer decided he “finally had to say something.”
“You know, man, these videos were really funny at first,” Puth said in a November video. “I don’t exactly know why you’ve been so mean to me these past couple of months, but it does genuinely hurt my feelings. I used to look up to you, and I don’t know where all this is coming from.”
Still, Blanco didn’t stop. “I know why I made this video because you’re a fuckin’ loser, Puth,” the 33-year-old songwriter and producer replied. “Look at you: You sit in a room all day and make TikToks…Dude, what the hell’s wrong with you? Look at your hair. It looks like you’ve got a toupee or a wig on or something. Get a grip and get a fucking haircut.”
I’m like whoa, Benny must not know who he is fucking with because I have it on very good authority (Google image search) that Charlie is close personal friends with Sir Elton John. Sadly though, Elton remains silent and has uncharacteristically refrained from diving headfirst into the fray with a song parody called Benny and The Mess. But apparently, Billie had the time. Here’s Billie “rly just saying mic drop,” as some astute fan wrote in the comments of her TikTok response to Benny.

Yes, that grown man with the silly hair made fun of that other man’s marginally less silly hair and a 20-year-old 7 time Grammy Award winner swooped in to shut it down. Charlie responded to Billie’s post with a simple “thank you” in the comments section. Nobody seems to know why Benny has it in for Charlie. They did an Instagram Live together back in 2020 and E! adds that “while some followers have wondered if they actually have beef, others have questioned if they’re both in on the roasts.” However Charlie currently has 1.5 million followers on Instagram with zero posts and his most recent TikTok is a painfully earnest video of encouragement he made for a fan who was rejected from Juilliard. So It’s looking a little one-sided to me. But really, the only winner here is Lil Xan who is not only still alive despite existing on a diet comprised of little else besides Flamin’ Hot Cheetos and his namesake medication, is absolutely thriving.
