HBO Max Reportedly Cut Chris Noth Out Of The Season Finale Of “And Just Like That…”
Chris Noth was dropped from his talent agency, cut from the show The Equalizer, and may be headed for divorce after four women came forward with sexual assault allegations against him. HBO Max sort of lucked out by killing off his character, Mr. Big, via a Peloton-induced heart attack in the series premiere of the Sex and the City reboot, And Just Like That…. But they also filmed another scene with Chris and Sarah Jessica Parker for the show’s season finale. But now that Chris Noth is known as alleged rapist Chris Noth, his scenes in the finale will not make it to air. And without Kim Cattrall‘s Samantha, truthfully, the whole series should never have made it to air either!
AJLT… is obviously trying their hardest to distance themselves from Chris after his life blew up (they must really want that second season) and while the cast already released a joint statement supporting the women who came forward, now the series has taken that little extra step and closed off any idea of us seeing Chris on our screens next to Carrie’s unhinged hat choices ever again. Sources tell TV Line that in the finale, Carrie goes to Paris to scatter Big’s ashes and Chris Noth pops up in a fantasy moment. But that moment has reportedly been shit-canned and you won’t see it in the finale, which airs on February 3rd.
…Carrie ventures to Paris’ Pont des Arts bridge to scatter Big’s ashes into the Seine river. The sequence was slated to include a fantasy element in which Big–who was killed off in And Just Like That…‘s premiere episode–appears to Carrie. (As Sex acolytes are well aware, Carrie and Big have a long history with the iconic pedestrian overpass.)
According to sources, And Just Like That…’s creative team ultimately decided that the minimal footage Noth had shot with Parker on location in Paris was not integral to the scene, which is about Carrie finding closure via the spreading of Big’s ashes. An insider notes that the finale was not locked at the time that the allegations against Noth were made public.
HBO Max had no comment about this.
Time for some quick reshoots! Instead of Carrie spreading Big’s ashes in the river, Carrie can start to drop them into the river but a huge bird snatches the ashes from her hands and carries them away before losing grip and they fall into the gutter, and eventually, the gutter water sweeps them into the sewers. “And just like that… Big fell in the sewers” FADE OUT.
