CNN Says That Andy Cohen Will Be Back To Host Their Next New Year’s Eve Special After It Was Rumored That They Dropped Him

Andy Cohen is a messy Queen; we know this, Bravo execs know this, Danielle Staub knows this. And he delivered the drunken messiness while once again hosting CNN’s New Year’s Eve special with his bestie Anderson Cooper. It was rumored that higher-ups at CNN were embarrassed by Andy’s foolery and were not going to invite him to host again. But a CNN rep denied that, saying that they’re fine with Andy and they spoke to him and he’ll be back next year. Yeah, because next year they’re gonna hide the tequila.

Out of the shit that Andy said on NYE, he does regret one thing. Andy regrets talking shit about Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve with Ryan Seacrest on ABC. He spoke on his SiriusXM show, Andy Cohen Live, yesterday saying, via Newsweek:

“The only thing that I regret saying, the only thing is that I slammed the ABC broadcast and I really like Ryan Seacrest and he’s a great guy… And I really regret saying that, and I was just stupid and drunk and feeling it… The headlines about Ryan Seacrest are all like I trash Ryan Seacrest. I’m like, I really, I hope he hears the clip. You know what I mean?”

Yeah, Andy Cohen out of context is way bitchier than Andy Cohen within context–No, actually they’re pretty much the same. And Radar Online claimed that “senior CNN” staffers were embarrassed about Andy’s antics and made CNN look FMN (the Foolish Messes Network):

Senior CNN staffers are telling Radar that they are “embarrassed” to work for the news network following Andy Cohen’s drunken New Year’s special – and are happy that he won’t be invited back again next year. “We claim to be the most trusted network in news and yet CNN hires Andy Cohen to make a fool out of all of us with his New Year’s performance?” a top insider tells Radar. “Andy doesn’t even work for CNN and yet he has been the face of our network for the past 48 hours. It is embarrassing and real CNN staffers are very angry.”

“Andy went too far. I think we can agree that it is CNN who look like losers,” adds another top CNN source. “Nothing has been made official yet, but internally we have been told that Andy will not be invited back next year. Embarrassing himself is one thing, but embarrassing Anderson Cooper is another. It was already known that Anderson doesn’t want to host next year’s special, he would rather ring the new year in with his son. And without Anderson, thankfully there will be no Andy Cohen.”

Not so fast! CNN says that they talked to Andy but that he will be back:

“Andy said something he shouldn’t have on live TV. We’ve addressed it with him and look forward to having him back again next year.”

Kathy Griffin will have the last laugh here. Next year she will get him to say something firable after she sneaks onto the CNN’s NYE set and changes out all of Andy’s water bottles with Don Julio Blanco. Although, Andy probably already makes his assistants do that before every NYE special.
