Chris Cuomo’s Book Got Dropped By Its Publisher And He Won’t Be Getting Any Severance From CNN

After getting fired on his day off, former CNN anchor Chris Cuomo is now free to sit on the stoop and smoke weed all day with his brother, former governor Andrew Cuomo. It’s not like he has anything better to do. According to CNBC, the HarperCollins imprint Custom House is dumping his book and CNN president Jeff Zucker recently told employees that Chris won’t be receiving a severance. So smoke up boys, and please remember, Stop and Frisk is unconstitutional. So keep your hands off the ladies!

Chris was suspended from his job at CNN last week after the New York Attorney General Letitia James released documents that indicated Chris had a bigger role than originally disclosed in helping his brother navigate accusations of sexual harassment that ultimately led to Andrew’s resignation. Then last weekend, CNN announced that Chris need not bother coming in on Monday because his suspension had been made permanent, citing “additional information” that had “come to light,” during their investigation into Chris’ conduct. There have been now two accusations of sexual harassment against Chris. One from last September by his former boss at ABC who says he grabbed her ass at a holiday party (clicé and tacky), and a newer allegation that followed his suspension from CNN from “a former junior colleague at another network.”  (ibid). Now, according to Deadline, he might have to self-publish his aptly named book, Deep Denial. Turn it into a podcast, perhaps? I know, I know. (ibid)

The book, Deep Denial, was set to be published next year. It follows Cuomo’s announcement on Monday that he was ending his daily SiriusXM radio show.

“Custom House no longer intends to publish the book,” a spokesperson for the publisher said.

A spokesperson for Cuomo declined comment. The book had a publication date of Oct. 15, 2022, and was described as “a provocative analysis of the harsh truths that the pandemic and Trump years have exposed about America—about our strength and our character—and a roadmap of the work needed to make our ideals match reality.”

Our “strength and our character,” too rich! CNBC adds that they couldn’t get an answer when they asked if Chris “had received an advance to write the book, and if so, whether that money has been refunded.” Whatever he received, I hope he put it in savings because he’s not getting any more paychecks from CNN.

News of the cancellation came a day after Cuomo said he was ending his SiriusXM show, and hours after the Wall Street Journal reported that CNN President Jeff Zucker had told the news network employees that CNN will not pay Cuomo severance.

Zucker also told employees at a town hall that he wished Cuomo had taken a leave of absence in May, after revelations that he had been advising Andrew Cuomo on how to deal with claims of sexual harassment by multiple women, the Journal reported.

Chris’s wife Cristina Cuomo’s going to have to come up with a new wellness fad if she’s going to be the primary breadwinner of the family. I’m not sure what the weed laws are like in the Hamptons, but if Chris is just going to be sitting out front smoking all day, he might as well be selling. CBC and Clorox infused bath bombs perhaps?
