Sarah Ferguson Says She’s The Most Persecuted Woman In The Royal Family

Sarah Ferguson, aka The Original Fergie, aka The Duchess of York, is back once again with another chapter for her ongoing life guide, Sarah Ferguson Might Need A Reality Check. Hot on the heels of “Prince Andrew is a good man” comes “Sarah Ferguson is the most persecuted woman in the Royal Family.” Um, Fergie? Do we mean this current Royal Family, or like, of all time? Because if it’s the second, I’m pretty sure a couple of Henry VIII’s headless wives would like a word.

Fergie’s little pity party happened during an interview with the French magazine Madame Figaro, where she said it’s in her DNA to not break under the pressure and compared herself to a “bruised reed.” Essentially, everything was great when Fergie got married to Prince Andrew in 1986, and after she birthed out two of The Queen’s granddaughters (Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie). But that shit went south after she and Andrew decided to split up in 1992 and get divorced in 1996, and according to Fergie, she became public enemy #1 in the eyes of crown-watching types. via The Daily Mail:

Referring to the negative media coverage she suffered for years following her separation from Prince Andrew in 1992, Fergie explained: “I was maybe the most persecuted woman in the history of the royal family, but I’m still here.”

“The bruised reed that doesn’t break is in my DNA.”

Sarah wouldn’t be stretching the truth if she had said that she was one of the most dragged women in the royal family. Five months after she and Andrew announced they were splitting, the British press got their hands on some pictures of a topless Fergie on vacation getting her toes sucked by her financial advisor. That probably didn’t go over well with The Queen, and likely neither did the stories about a broke Fergie getting caught trying to sell stories about Prince Andrew for $750,000. Or borrowing money from Andrew’s friend Jeffrey Epstein three years after he was convicted of soliciting a minor. But persecuted might be a stretch. Fergie is still invited to hang out at The Queen’s house! Hell, she still technically lives the luxe life with Prince Andrew. If she was actually persecuted in any way by the powers that be, she’d be finding her stuff in the garden shed with a notice taped to the door, saying, “Rent is on the first of the month, and NO BUM CHECKS.

And It’s no secret that Fergie is willing to go to bat for Prince Andrew, a man whose name continues to be brought up in court by lawyers that are trying to put Ghislaine Maxwell away for sex trafficking. Fergie laid it thick, saying:

Speaking of her ex-husband, with whom she still lives with at Royal Lodge in Windsor, she said her wedding day was the most beautiful day of her life. She added: “I loved him and I still love him today, I will stay by his side, because I believe in him, it is a good man.”

But like…for now though, right? Because Prince Andrew is going to trial next year, to square off against the lawsuit filed by Virginia Giuffre, the woman who has accused Andrew of sexually assaulting her as a minor. Something tells me that the outcome of that trial might be the deciding factor in Fergie’s loyalty. If that trial is closed out with the word “guilty,” we’re also going to hear the sound of an unbreakable reed finally snapping and Fergie muttering something how she never said forever.
