Chris Noth Doesn’t Like What Kim Cattrall Said About Sarah Jessica Parker

The Sex and the City revival And Just Like That... finally comes out on HBO Max this Thursday, but it’s not Thursday yet, so its long, slow promotional march continues, with Chris Noth giving an interview to The Guardian. Chris was asked about Kim Cattrall not returning to the new series, and he says that he wasn’t happy about her comments about Sarah Jessica Parker being a toxic fake-nice biotch. Chris says that Kim’s descriptions of SJP “don’t even come close” to the person he knows and the whole thing was “sad and uncomfortable.” But not as uncomfortable as Sex and the City 2, right? RIGHT?!

Here’s exactly what Chris said, via the Guardian:

So, I ask Noth, why do you think Cattrall isn’t in the new series? “I have to tell you, I have absolutely no idea what her thinking is, or her emotions. I do know that I’m very close with SJ and [Cattrall’s] descriptions of her don’t even come close. I liked her, I thought she was marvellous in the show and some people move on for their own reasons. I don’t know what hers were. I just wish that whole thing had never happened because it was sad and uncomfortable,” he says.

Did it put the rest of the cast in an awkward position? “I just don’t like to see anyone talking down about SJ because she’s a target and people can be nasty. I feel very protective of her and I was not happy about that. That’s all I’ll say about that.”

“Yep that’s allll I have to say about that! SJ’s the best! And the sweetest, and, uhhh, the prettiest and boy oh boy that have you seen her hair? So thick!” And just like that… Sarah Jessica ordered her snipers to stand down. Chris gets to live another day.

Chris also discussed the tragic death of Willie Garson, aka Stanford Blatch, who passed away from pancreatic cancer in September. Chris says he didn’t know Willie was sick and regrets not spending more time with him before his death:

“No, most of us didn’t know. The last time I saw him was on set and I kick myself because I didn’t really get a chance to talk to him. He was extraordinarily fun and funny and there’s nothing to say but that it’s heartbreaking. It’s sad for everyone, and for the show, because I think he was going to have a really huge storyline. But he’ll be in it to the extent that he filmed. Oh God …”

That’s sad. So the future of Sex and the City is sans Samantha and mostly sans Stanford. May I suggest bringing Kristen Johnston’s character back from the dead to make up for these losses? “And just like that… zombies are real, and they’ve never been hotter.”
