Open Post: Hosted By The Oasis Cover Band Who Has Been Stranded At A Yorkshire Pub For Three Days Because Of A Snowstorm
The Manchester Evening News reports that the Oasis cover band Noasis and around 50 “punters” (British slang for customers) are stranded at the Tan Hill Inn in the Yorkshire Dales after a blizzard buried them in 5 feet of snow. The snow blocked cars and roads, making escape virtually impossible. And that was on Friday. These poor souls are currently on Day 4 of hearing Wonderwall on loop. God help them all!
The Tan Hill Inn is the highest pub in Britain, at 528 meters above sea level. It sits on top of the Pennine Moors, and it’s pretty remote. There are three routes to get to the pub, but two are blocked by snowdrifts and the third is blocked by a downed power line. The nearest main road is ten miles away. Customers have been sleeping on makeshift beds on the floor of the bar. The band is entertaining them with songs, and pub staff has organized karaoke, trivia, and movie screenings.
Pub co-owner Mike Kenny told the Manchester Evening News:
“We recommended anyone in the pub to stay out rather than endanger life on the snow covered moors.
“No one is going anywhere yet. The police advised we all stay out for now. Our snowplough is snowed in!”
Here are some pictures of the Tan Hill Inn post-blizzard:

It looks like staff and customers have made the best out of a bad situation. Let’s just thank God they weren’t trapped in there with the real Oasis, or Noel and Liam Gallagher would’ve gone full Jack Nicholson in The Shining in mere hours (they would’ve ax murdered each other).
