Wendy Williams’ Brother Denies The Claim That She’s Suffering From Dementia
57-year-old Wendy Williams has been going through it for a while now. She’s been away from her talk show The Wendy Williams Show for months now and has been replaced by guest-host after guest-host. Wendy has long had issues with her Graves’ disease and recently had some pretty bad health issues. Recently, Rickey Smiley of The Rickey Smiley Morning Show started the rumor that Wendy has early stages of dementia. But Wendy’s brother, Tommy Williams Jr. has spoken out and said that’s not so.
Over the weekend, Rickey Smiley reported that sources are saying Wendy is suffering from dementia and lost blood circulation to the lower half of her body, and could no longer walk. via Newsweek:
“It’s not looking really good… Word on the street is Wendy is confined to a wheelchair,” Smiley claimed.
They added that the host “has lost all blood circulation in her legs and in her feet” and that she may not return to her show. “We gotta pray for Wendy. We know that she’s been battling with addiction, alcoholism, all that good stuff, and it’s also been reported that Wendy has been suffering from the early stages of dementia,” Smiley added.
Rickey Smiley really said “all that good stuff” about her addiction issues.
But this was news to Wendy’s family as her brother spoke to The Sun and said that no one in the family had seen Wendy “displaying that type of behavior.” He said:
“We haven’t had any alerts like that and I haven’t seen anything like that or have had conversations with her that would lead me to believe that… We routinely go up and check on Wendy even though we’re all down here in Florida… I try to make it up there and my dad speaks with Wendy frequently. So no, we don’t have any concerns concerning her mental state. It’s all physical.” Wendy’s brother said that the star is mentally well enough to possibly travel to see her family in Florida for the upcoming holiday weekend. “I am trying to find out if she’s coming down for Thanksgiving. I mean- she’s normal like that,” he added.
Earlier this month, Wendy updated everyone on her health, saying that she’s “making progress” but her recovery is “taking longer than we expected.”
