Open Post: Hosted By Oprah Pretending She Knows The Lyrics To Adele’s “Hello”

During Adele‘s One Night Only CBS two-hour special, Oprah Winfrey brought her signature lip-syncing to the program. Apart from interviewing Adele and getting the nitty-gritty out of her, Oprah also enjoyed a performance at the Griffith Observatory in Los Angeles. Over nine million people watched the special and all of them were treated to not just good music and a deep interview, but also Oprah moving her lips around to a song that she thinks she knows but doesn’t. Someone needs to ask The Mighty O, “Were you lip-syncing? Or were you lip-sunk?”

Oprah is clearly not cut out for the TikTok lip-syncing trends because she cannot even remember the lyrics to Adele’s extremely overplayed popular single Hello. I mean, that song was everywhere, but Oprah must have missed it because Huffington Post says that she sang along at the concert with lyrics of her own choosing. She posted a video of her enjoying the show alongside fellow famous attendee, Lizzo, and everyone with eyes was quick to notice she didn’t know a single lyric. “Surely she knew when to say, “Hello from the other side,” at least?” you may be asking. She sure didn’t–it’s all the more obvious since Lizzo clearly knows the words:

Gotta hand it to Oprah’s own account for posting her looking like a complete Aunty at the family function. Oprah has done this before, most notably in 2005 when Mariah Carey was on The Oprah Winfrey Show singing the hit We Belong Together which, again, was on the radio every 15 seconds. But Oprah’s a billionaire, right? She doesn’t listen to the radio. She and Mariah even poked fun of her complete lack of lyrical awareness ahead of an Oprah Conversation they did last year:

Oprah doesn’t need to know lyrics. She’s so rich that she could pay an artist to just change them to whatever she wants, so enjoy the adlibbing, you peasants!
