Open Post: Hosted By Lil Nas X And His Ex On “Maury”

November 12, 2021 / Posted by:

Lil Nas X is going on Maury to confront his ex-boyfriend Yai Ariza and Yai’s so-called wife. Nas and his backup dancer Yai allegedly dated over the summer and last we heard 22-year-old Nas was single. On the upcoming episode of Maury, Nas is confronting Yai’s “wife,” who refuses to believe that her husband and alleged father of her child has been cheating on her for a month-and-a-half. Also, who is the biological father of 4-year-old Noah?! There’s a paternity test, a surprise engagement, a dramatic fight featuring a crushed bouquet of roses, and Nas dramatically running backstage to escape the cameras. So, yeah, your standard episode of Maury.

Here’s the promo:

Nas is the king of troll-like publicity stunts. See: pretending to sell “Satan Shoes” and then going to jail. And the whole being pregnant with his album thing. Going on Maury fits the pattern. But how much of it is real? And who’s that kid? Well, all the answers can be found in the music video for Nas’ “THATS WHAT I WANT”.

In the video, Nas is in a steamy relationship with his fellow football player/cowboy (Yai). When Lil Nas X visits Football-Cowboy-Yai’s house, he is shocked when Yai’s wife and son open the door. And look! It’s the same family as the one on Maury:

So now we know that marketing genius Nas has constructed a long-con narrative with Yai and these actors. My follow-up question is: were Lil Nas X and Yai ever actually together? In August Nas told Variety that he’d found “the One,” and everybody guessed it was Yai. At the end of September, he went on Andy Cohen’s radio show and claimed that he and his mystery boyfriend were over. And as much as I want Lil Nas X to be happy and in love, I also love pranks and trolls. Eeeee! Did Nas trick us?! Will this Maury fuckery be in his next music video? Was this “relationship” as big a sham as the marriage between Lisa Marie Presley and Michael Jackson? All this and more, next Wednesday on Maury!
