People Magazine FINALLY Names Paul Rudd As The 2021 Sexiest Man Alive

There was a rumor last week that People magazine was planning to crown Chris Evans, arguably one of the best Chrises, as this year’s Sexiest Man Alive. Well, as you can see by the forever-ageless visage staring back at you on the cover above, that honor did not actually go to Chris Evans after all. Not this specific honor, at least (he’ll always be Lizzo’s Sexiest Man Alive). Instead, People decided to name another Marvel hunk as the sexiest man with a pulse, and that’s many people’s ground zero for aggressively horny feelings, Paul Rudd.

People (humans, not the magazine) have been thirsting after Paul Rudd for decades. Guess how old Paul Rudd is without looking it up? Did you just think, “I know it’s not 29, but I want to say 29,” because mine did. Paul Rudd is 52, and he’s been a hottie since way back in the Clueless days, which is a movie that was released in 1995. And finally, People has decided to acknowledge all that charming nice guy sexiness. You know, while also plugging Paul’s upcoming film, Ghostbusters: Afterlife, in theaters on November 19th! via People magazine:

Such humble deflection – coupled with those gorgeous green eyes and easy grin – is exactly why audiences have fallen in love with Rudd over the years. This month alone he’s reteaming with Will Ferrell for the new Apple TV+ series The Shrink Next Door and taking on one of Hollywood’s most treasured franchises with Ghostbusters: Afterlife.

Last year, People also chose a sexy Marvel superhero as their Sexiest Man Alive (that would be Michael B. Jordan). And much like numerous People’s Sexiest Mans Alives, this one is also married, so the only chance you’ll get with Paul is if you stuff a giant body pillow and tape this week’s issue to the face area (stop looking at me, I was being hypothetical).

The actor’s wife was the only person he told ahead of time about his new title. “She was stupefied,” he says. “But you know she was very sweet about it. After some giggling and shock, she said ‘Oh, they got it right.’ And that was very sweet. She was probably not telling the truth, but what’s she going to say?”

Paul filmed a little thing with People to talk about being named their SMA, and he says that at first, he thought it was an “insane” choice, but that he’s going to fully lean into it. And just like that, Paul Rudd’s industry-wide reputation as a down-to-earth sweetheart has been completely bulldozed by his unquenchable ego-driven hunger for print journalism-sanctioned vanity! Jesus, what a shame – it’s like we don’t even know you anymore, Paul Rudd.

The news was announced last night on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, where Paul first “auditioned” for the title of People’s Sexiest Man Alive, then brought on ten tons of pageant winner realness, complete with a full-blown ugly cry.

Picking Paul Rudd as People’s Sexiest Man Alive 2021 is a choice because it’s not a conventional one. For example, Paul Rudd isn’t covered with muscles. But his gee-shucks brand of cute DILF does make some people feel things, so this was likely an inevitable choice. Although it doesn’t really matter when they crowned him SMA. It could happen in 2059, and the cover would still look the same. Literally, the only thing that would change is that “#CRUSHFORLIFE.” I just don’t know if we’ll still be using hashtags then.
