Ice Cube Reportedly Dropped Out Of A Movie Called “Oh Hell No” Because He Refused To Get Vaccinated

Who’d have imagined a big tough OG like Ice Cube would be scared of a little prick. Yet, according to The Hollywood Reporter, Cube has walked away from a $9 million paycheck because he refused to comply with a request to get vaccinated against COVID-19 by producers of a film called Oh Hell No co-starring Jack Black. And just like that, a weary world goes into mourning for what was lost. Now we’ll never know what happens when “mayhem erupts between two friends, Sherman and Will, when Sherman falls in love with Will’s mother, much to Will’s disapproval.”(via Google) Alas, we’ll all just have to do our own research if we want to find out the truth.

THR reports that Oh Hell No is actually a comedy. Again, I don’t trust those “facts.” My research shows that Oh Hell No is a poignant study of a man baby whose obstinacy leads to some serious health risks which leave him unable to protect his mother from the perils of engaging in a meaningful relationship with a man who makes her laugh and treats her like a queen.

Ice Cube has departed Sony’s upcoming comedy, Oh Hell No, in which he would’ve co-starred with Jack Black, after declining a request from producers to get vaccinated, sources tell The Hollywood Reporter.

Sony had no comment. A personal representative for the star declined to comment. WME, his agency, declined to comment. Oh Hell No is being produced by Matt Tolmach and Black, who both did not offer a comment.

Ice Cube and Black partnered on the project in June. The Sony film was looking to shoot this winter in Hawaii with Kitao Sakurai, the filmmaker behind Netflix’s breakout comedy Bad Trip, in the director’s seat. Producers on Oh Hell No made the request that cast on the project would need to be vaccinated.

OHN was supposed to start filming this winter in Hawaii so congratulations to the residents of that beautiful state for having one less unvaccinated yokel wash up on their shores. But the good news is if production can get their hands on enough apple crates for him to stand on, I bet Kevin Hart would be willing to, quite literally, step up.

The film is pushing back its production start. Black injured himself in June while filming a gag for the last episode of Conan but is still attached to the project. Sources tell THR the studio is looking to find a replacement for Ice Cube, who walked from a $9 million payday.

Cube has yet to comment but THR says that he has been actively promoting mask-wearing, but apparently hasn’t had shit to say about vaccines. And this isn’t the first production Cube has dropped out of since vaccine mandates became a thing.

Sony’s Oh Hell No is the second project that Ice Cube has left in recent months. The rapper turned actor was to have co-starred in boxing movie Flint Strong but is no longer involved. It’s unclear what circumstances prompted the departure. The Universal drama actually shot one day before the first COVID-19 shutdown stateside in March 2020. It is now in turnaround but is being reconstituted with a search for a new co-lead underway.

Dear sweet baby Jesus, please don’t let Ice Cube’s apparent vaccine hesitancy deprive the world of the recently announced Ride Along 3. Kevin Hart is talented, but he can hardly replace Cube and play his own part. Oh what am I saying, Kevin can do it all. That’s what quick-change wigs and step ladders are for. Don’t believe me, just ask Tom Cruise!
