Kat Von D Is Closing Her Tattoo Shop From “LA Ink”
At the end of last year, non-Nazi/non-anti-vaxxer Kat Von D bought a mansion in Vevay, Indiana so she could escape California’s “tyrannical government overreach” and “ridiculous taxing.” And… COVID restrictions? Probably. At the time Kat assured everyone that she’d be only be Indiana part-time, and she wouldn’t be selling her LA tattoo shop. But yesterday she added an extremely delayed “…not!” and announced she was closing High Voltage Tattoo shop after 14 years in business and 4 seasons of TLC’s LA Ink. And West Hollywood wept…
Kat broke the news on Instagram with a picture of her that reads “Goodbye, California!” In the caption, she writes that she and her family (husband Rafael Reyes and almost-3-year-old son Leafar) feel at home in Indiana, and they’ll be moving there permanently by the end of the year. She’ll be selling her LA home, and High Voltage Tattoo will close on December 1. She adds:
I didnβt think it would make sense to keep it open if I wasnβt present, and aside from coming back to work on music with my band, we donβt plan on returning to LA very often.
That’s right, Kat does music. Did we know this? Do they suck? Do we care? The answers are: Who cares?, Probably, and NERP. Anyway, here’s Kat’s post:
Kat opened High Voltage Tattoo in 2007 after being offered her own spin-off to Miami Ink. She ran the shop and tattooed there in its early years, but eventually stepped back to focus on shit like her books and makeup line. You remember the makeup line! The one with the lipstick color, “Selektion,” the German word Nazis used to describe the death camp process of “selecting” which Jewish prisoners would be executed. Great call, Kat!
Kat says that once she finishes remodeling her historic mansion in Indiana, she’ll likely open her own private studio in the area. Get ready, Southern Indiana town of Vevay, population 1,683! You’re about to get an influx of Nazi-sympathizing-anti-vaxxer-hardcore-vegan-Kat Von D-stanning-tattoo enthusiasts!
