Gwyneth Paltrow Says She’s Pretty Much Quit Alcohol After Overdoing It During The Pandemic

In the image above, Gwyneth Paltrow is sipping on juice, but not the kind that can be accompanied by a healthy splash of gin. And that would be because Gwyneth Paltrow’s liver is getting a much-needed break after she spent several months boozing during the pandemic. Gwyneth recently admitted that she’s her own version of California Sober, which is to say she’s a woman who lives in California, who isn’t chugging good-time juice nearly as much as she once was.

Back in May, Gwyneth admitted that one of the ways she chose to cope during the lockdown part of early pandemic life was to down two “Buster Paltrows” each and every night. It was a cocktail Gwyneth invented (of course she invented it) using quinoa whiskey (of course, again), maple syrup, and lemon juice. Gwyneth described it as “heaven.” Previous to that admission, Gwyneth – who claims to have contracted COVID-19 – said that wine and pasta were getting her through those tough, stressful first months. Gwyneth had too much and so she cut out her daily drinking, mostly. Gwyneth was a guest on Chelsea Handler’s Dear Chelsea podcast, and said that her doctor suggested she cool it with the booze, and ever since then she’s started to “feel so good.” Oh, so you’re saying it wasn’t the $500 GOOP-approved infrared sauna blanket that did it? Hmmm, interesting. via People magazine:

“It’s been a long year of barely any alcohol, I mean I’ve had a sip here and there but very rarely,” she told host Chelsea Handler.

“You know me, I love a drink, I love the ritual of it, and I love to sit down and have one and chat. I love the taste of alcohol, like, I love whiskey and wine and, whatever, vodka. I’ll take it all,” Paltrow added. “But I think what happened was, having gotten COVID and having felt like shit, or like having had long COVID stuff for a while, I just didn’t feel vibrant.”

Like Gwyneth said, it’s not like she fully cut out alcohol completely. She still has the odd sip here or there. A concept that probably stalled alcohol-enthusiast Chelsea Handler’s brain so hard that it shut down and had to be manually re-started by pressing holding down her brain’s power button for five seconds.
