CBS Will Air An Adele Concert Special And Oprah Interview Ahead Of The Release Of “30”

After having been through a divorce, I think a lot of people are counting on Adele to make them feel something, anything, other than the abject terror and grief that’s marked the past couple of years. At this point, a little good old-fashioned conventional heartbreak comes as a relief. And Adele is poised to deliver with her latest album 30, the first single of which, Easy on Me, is already being practiced by sad drunks in the mirror who are ready to absolutely kill it the minute karaoke comes back. And by “kill it” I mean send everybody in the joint who came for a good time to the bathroom and then to the bar to get another drink. In the meantime, the sad drunks can get their fix with an upcoming prime-time concert special and exclusive interview with Oprah Winfrey. So sad drunks rejoice! Shit’s about to get melancholic as fuck.

According to TVLine, Adele: One Night Only will premiere on CBS on Sunday, November 14th, ahead of 30’s November 19th release.

Premiering Sunday, Nov. 14 at 8:30/7:30c, Adele: One Night Only will feature “an extraordinary concert performance that includes the earliest opportunity to hear her first new material in six years,” per CBS. The two-hour special will include “chart-topping hits” and “several never-before-heard songs,” as well as an exclusive interview by Oprah Winfrey. The “wide-ranging conversation” will focus on Adele’s “new album, the stories behind the songs, life after divorce, weight loss and raising her son.”

CNN adds that Oprah’s really rolling out the red carpet for Adele and will be interviewing her from her Montecito, California rose garden. Harry and Meghan didn’t even rate the rose garden treatment. She made them sit in a neighbor’s yard on lawn chairs made by Peter Brady. Harry may be British royalty, but he’s no Adele. Who, other than me, is having that conversation? And in case you’re wondering how James Corden worms his way into this special musical event, it’s simple. According to Page Six:

The special is being produced by James Corden and Ben Winston’s Fulwell 73 and Onward Productions in association with Winfrey’s Harpo Productions.

Adele, 33, has been friends with Corden, 43, for years and memorably vacationed with the “Late Late Show” host and Harry Styles in the Caribbean to ring in 2020.

I’m guessing this means James is going to be the first singer to send everybody to the bathroom with Easy On Me when the special opens with him and Adele reprising their top-rated Carpool Karaoke segment from 2016.
