Renée Zellweger Is Wearing A Fat Suit To Play Convicted Murderer Pam Hupp

I guess Renée Zellweger wants to tackle the E in her road to EGOT because she’s playing real-life murderer Pam Hupp in a series for NBC. But while some serious thespians will proudly fuck up their metabolism in the name of their art by gaining a bunch of weight in a short amount of time, Renée isn’t going that route again and has instead gone the Sarah Paulson route by putting Gwyneth Paltrow’s old Shallow Hal fat suit.

Renée took a break from working the pap stroll with her new man Ant Anstead to go off to New Orleans to film The Thing About Pam. NBC News reports that Pam Hupp was charged with the 2011 first-degree murder of Elizabeth “Betsy” Faria who was suffering from terminal cancer. Pam was accused of tricking Betsy to sign over a $150,000 life insurance policy, and then stabbing Betsy 55 times and smearing blood all over the house to frame Betsy’s husband, Russell Faria. Russell was found guilty in 2013 and sentenced to life in prison. The conviction was overturned in 2015. At his retrial, his attorneys argued that Pam was responsible. Russell was found not guilty and he eventually settled with the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Department for $2 million over the wrongful conviction. In July, Pam was charged with Betsy’s murder.

Pam is currently serving a life sentence for shooting a man in 2016. Prosecutors accused her of tricking a 33-year-old mentally disabled man, Louis Gumpenberger, back to her home in Missouri, planting a knife and kidnapping note, and shooting him while she was on the phone with the police–all in an attempt to divert attention from herself in Betsy’s murder investigation. Pam was found guilty in 2019. And of course, after all of that, people speculate that Pam may have also had something to do with the fatal “fall” that killed her mother in 2013.

So Renée could not pass up a meaty role like that and chose to don a fat suit. I guess Renée got her fill of getting fat for a role when she did Bridget Jones’ Diary. Renée gained more than 20lbs in a few months and lost the weight afterward. But Renée hated it and said in interviews that the yo-yo dieting during the film series caused panic attacks.

So while filming The Thing About Pam on Monday, a skinny Renée was seen looking what the blogs call “unrecognizable” and I call, “clearly Renée Zellwegger in a fat suit.”

Well, hey at least she’s not getting panic attacks from her yo-yo diets–which is inarguably bad for someone’s body. So clearly there was no other option besides a fat suit. It’s not like they could have cast someone else who was actually the size of the role–actresses that size don’t exist–let’s not be silly. But I’m sure Renee will weather whatever criticism may come her way over this, but even if everyone turned on her for wearing a fat suit, she can still count on the love of fat person despiser, Jillian Michaels who will defend someone’s right to stay skinny.
