Adele Announced Her New Single, “Easy On Me”
It has been 2,146 days since we’ve received any new music from Adele. The fans are parched. But over the weekend, hope came in the form of some mysterious billboards that read “30.” Was this a clue that new Adele music was on its way? Turns out the answer was YES. This morning Adele posted a short black-and-white clip of what appears to be her new single’s music video. The song’s called “Easy On Me”, it’s out October 15, and it sounds like a classic Adele piano ballad. Goddammit! I had fifty bucks on a reggae album!
The clip shows Adele, working winged eyeliner and her signature long nails, pushing a cassette into her car’s tape deck. “Easy On Me” plays, and, as Adele drives away, loose sheet music flies out her back windows. I’d tell her to roll the windows up, but since this is an old car (see: tape deck), it’s safe to assume the rolly crank is broken. The final shot reveals that this shitbox car is attached to a trailer filled up with furniture. Adele is moving! Moving, changes, transitions, new chapters, transformations, weight loss, divorce, Bantu knots, a new man… You know what? Let’s go easy on her…

Vulture is also reporting that Adele’s team has approached “multiple networks and platforms about the idea of staging a TV special” tied to her upcoming album release. No deals have been made, but sources say the TV special could debut before the end of the year. Back in 2015 Adele promoted her last album, 25, with pre-taped televised concerts on BBC and NBC. Vulture guesses that she could try something similar or “something more ambitious, such as a live outdoor spectacle.” Hell, why stop there? If a has-been like William Shatner can go to fucking space, why can’t A-Lister Adele do her special on Mars?
We still haven’t got an official release date for Adele’s album, which is probably titled 30. Not to state the obvious, but Adele ain’t 30. She’s 33. When 25 came out, she was 27. She was 22 for 21, and she was 19 for 19. This mathematical pattern tells me that Adele’s next album will be entitled 35, and it will come out in 2027 when she’s 39 years old. And, call me crazy, but I’m putting another fifty bucks on reggae!
