Lizzo Is Facing Backlash For Calling Chris Brown Her “Favorite Person In The Whole World”

Usually when something from a famous person’s past is discovered, it’s oftentimes a tweet (or series of tweets, or whole Tumblr account) that requires the help of a damage control expert and a standard apology statement beginning with the words, “A long time ago…” or “There are some things in my past that I’m ashamed of.” But Lizzo is currently facing an embarrassing social media moment that can’t be traced back to “another time” before she’s “learned and grown” or whatever other apology-friendly words her publicist would urge her to use. A recent video is making the rounds on Twitter featuring Lizzo and, in her words, her “favorite person in the whole fucking world,” Chris Brown. Don’t panic, the Earth’s population didn’t suddenly drop from 7.753 billion to 2, which would be why people are strongly questioning Lizzo for that endorsement.

The video is of Lizzo meeting Chris Brown backstage after The Millennium Tour (Chris Brown came out as a surprise guest of Bow Wow, who is co-headlining the tour with B2K, Omarion, and Soulja Boy). Lizzo posted several pictures of herself and her friends at the concert in Los Angeles on Friday night, and sometime after the show, she ran into Chris Brown backstage and that’s when Lizzo’s inner fan jumped out to demand a picture.

Lizzo’s friends also hopped in for a picture with Chris Brown, which tells me Lizzo really needs at least one friend who is comfortable enough to shoot her a look of disgust and hiss, “Chris Brown? Really?

If Lizzo needs a friend who can be real with her, then she should look no further than the internet. Because lots of people were more than happy to call Lizzo out for gushing over Chris Brown. NME collected several tweets from people who had different reactions. But as one Twitter user pointed out, Lizzo isn’t the only high-profile person to show respect or admiration for Chris Brown, so it doesn’t make sense to be piling all your hate onto her. A correct statement! There’s plenty of hate to go around. For example, Drake is literally right there. Or 50 Cent. Eh, maybe just focus on Drake; 50 Cent always seems to have the time to fight back on Twitter, and nobody needs that headache.

But to be fair to everyone hating on Lizzo, Chris Brown is still the worst. Chris Brown has been accused of assaulting a woman THIS YEAR. That’s not even the only time this year that Chris Brown has been dragged into an allegedly violent incident. Just a few months ago, Chris Brown’s housekeeper accused his dog of attacking her, to which Chris Brown reportedly destroyed the evidence by allegedly euthanizing his dog.

And all this is made even more ironic when you remember that Lizzo just asked her fans to stay at least 6 feet away from her until COVID is over. Well, COVID isn’t over, and Lizzo the Chris Brown Fan couldn’t get into his personal space bubble fast enough when she saw him backstage. Lizzo please, take your own advice! Stay at least six thousand feet away from Chris Brown. That wasn’t a typo. For the sake of your Twitter mentions, stay as far away from him as humanly possible.
