Seth Rogen Dragged The Emmys For Getting Together During A Pandemic While Presenting At The Emmys

During last night’s Emmys, Seth Rogen presented the first award of the night and wondered “what are we doing?” over how many people had been packed into a small space. He joked about being told that the ceremony was going to happen outside since the Coronavirus pandemic is still fisting us all without lube. The ceremony was downsized but happened inside of a tent, which I guess is considered “outside” to the Emmys people. The Emmys producers were lying to themselves like the people who have anal and still call themselves “virgins.”

Seth presented the Emmy for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series. Hannah Waddingham survived being waterboarded on Game of Thrones to win an Emmy for being funny on Apple TV’s Ted Lasso last night. She beat out other nominees Rosie Perez, Hannah Einbinder, Aidy Bryant, Kate McKinnon, Cecily Strong, and Juno Temple. But before she scored her first Emmy, The Daily Beast said that Seth riffed with several jokes about the dangers of COVID

“Let me start by saying: there’s way too many of us in this little room. What are we doing? They said this was outdoors—it’s not! They lied to us. We’re in a hermetically sealed tent right now. I would not have come to this. Why is there a roof? It’s more important that we have three chandeliers than that we make sure we don’t kill Eugene Levy tonight. That is what has been decided. This is insane. I went from wiping my groceries to having Paul Bettany sneeze in my face—so, that’s a big week! If anyone’s gonna sneeze in my face, Paul, I want it to be you. …All right, that’s all the jokes I wrote.”

Here are Seth’s jokes and Hannah’s acceptance speech:

Of course, the Emmys weren’t going to let that slide and come off as some kind of careless South Dakota motorcycle rally. They follow COVID protocols, thankyouverymuch! USA Today said that the DJ of the evening, Reggie Watts–who is also the bandleader on James Corden‘s show–said before commercial:

“Despite what Seth might have said, we’re going to celebrate and party, but while we’re doing that we’re absolutely following all the health and safety guidelines that some really smart people asked us to do to keep us safe from COVID.”

And host, Cedric the Entertainer, also later did some quick damage control, joking about Nicki Minaj‘s cousin while letting everyone know that all the stars spreading their germs were vaccinated:

“It actually feels amazing in here unlike what Seth was talking about. It feels good. We’re all vaxxed. We had to get vaxxed to come here. I got vaxxed. I did not have a reaction like Nicki Minaj’s cousin’s friend. I got Pfizer because I’m bougie. Pfizer is the Neiman Marcus of vaccines. Moderna, that’s Macy’s. Johnson & Johnson, that’s TJ Maxx.”

It’s good that Seth is worried about the ways to be safe from COVID. I bet he even stopped sharing joints during the pandemic. BYOJ (bring your own joint)! Seth probably looks over guidelines and follows them strictly. I wonder if he’s doing the same with the list Charlyne Yi gave to him about apologizing for enabling James Franco‘s alleged sexual harassment?
