Sarah Paulson Says She’s Probably Done With “American Horror Story”

It feels like there have been six hundred seasons of American Horror Story. The reality is, Ryan Murphy has done ten seasons and one AHS spin-off, creatively titled American Horror Stories. The franchise has kept Sarah Paulson very busy. She went from the person I thought was Monica Potter to the unofficial queen of the American Horror Story. Sarah could be playing witches, weirdos, creeps, murderers, mediums, and haunted iPhone enthusiasts until she literally becomes a ghost, but Sarah recently revealed that this current season might be last her.

There have been ten seasons of American Horror Story since its premiere on FX back in 2011, and Sarah Paulson has played characters in every season except one – she skipped out on AHS: 1984, because she wanted to focus on her role in Mrs. America (the only other cast members to appear in as many seasons are Evan Peters and Lily Rabe). This most recent season, AHS: Double Feature, is her last, for the time being. But never say never. via People:

When asked by Andy Cohen on Watch What Happens Live what her next collaboration with Murphy will be, Paulson responded, “I don’t know. It’s the first time in about three years where I don’t know.”

She added, “I think this is my last season of [American] Horror Story, probably. I mean, I don’t know. Every time [Murphy] comes to me with some whack-a-doodle character, I tend to be like, ‘Yes, let’s do it!’ I don’t know, this is the first time. So we’ll see.”

FX has renewed the series for three more seasons. Ryan has said that future seasons will see characters from AHS: Coven and AHS: Apocalypse return. Sarah Paulson appeared in both of those, so she should probably expect a call from Ryan. But how many more scary takes on classic elements of American horror can one tell? So it might be easy for Sarah to turn Ryan down in the future. “So this next season is a sexy, gritty retelling of the classic Halloween song…The Monster Mash? Yeah, I’m good! Talk to you later.

You can watch Sarah’s appearance below, in which she was a guest alongside Lisa Rinna, who looks like she just came from an audition to play Chanel #2 in a reboot of Scream Queens that takes place 40 years in the future.
