Open Post: Hosted By Keke Palmer Revealing The Met Gala’s Fyre Festival-Like Meal

During last night’s Met Gala, Keke Palmer co-hosted Vogue‘s live stream of the event, along with Ilana Glazer, and interviewed celebs and cracked jokes, and was the funny, personable person she usually is. While hosting, Keke said that she was excited to go inside and eat. Well, hopefully, Keke slipped a protein bar in her purse. Because the food looked like somebody’s leftovers.

The Met Gala is a fancy event where tickets cost $30,000 each. And yet the food looked like something served up on Day Two of the Fyre Festival. This year, the menu was completely vegan and organizers hired several top New York chefs to work on the menu. The chefs included: Fariyal Abdullahi, Nasim Alikhani, Emma Bengtsson, Lazarus Lynch, Junghyun Park, Erik Ramirez, Thomas Raquel, Sophia Roe, Simone Tong, and Fabian von Hauske. Yes, it took ten chefs to cut up some vegetables and call it a day.

With the message: “This why they don’t show y’all the food. I’m just playinnnn,” Keke was clearly not “just playinnnn” and was obviously disappointed to be served what looks like some cold risotto, two baby tomatoes cut in thirds, some sweetcorn, three slices of cucumber, and one mushroom. And no, it wasn’t served on a tortilla. It was “served on hand-painted plates from Tory Burch’s Oiseau collection,” so that makes up for the fact that the place setting leaf with Keke’s name on it looks like it could be a part of the meal.

Damn, Anna Wintour, I guess Coronavirus fucked with the food budget too. Here’s a description of the menu:

Before this, the gala guests enjoyed a fresh salad, and dessert was an apple mousse and apple confit with a calvados glaze, served in the shape of an apple.

Canapes at the event included collard greens hot chowder served on coconut buttermilk cornbread, black rice porcini arancini with pumpkin Calabrian chili sauce, as well as watermelon tart with smoked yuzu soy on a panipuri cracker.

Collard greens hot chowder? Oh my GOD! I would rather eat the designer cheeseburger Katy Perry dressed as in 2019–it probably has more nutrients.
