Iman As The Glorious Sun, And Other Icons At The Met Gala

Iman is 66 years young and still stunting on all these little TikTokers and influencers who managed to score an invite to the 2021 Met Gala. Iman showed up as the most important thing in the galaxy: THE SUN. Not sure what it had to do with the theme, In America: A Lexicon Of Fashion, who cares. It’s Iman! And other icons who graced the Met Gala with their presences included Debbie Harry, Whoopi Goldberg, and Sharon Stone.

Iman wore a gold Harris Reed jumper with a tiered, feather gown to the gala. Harris also thanked Dolce & Gabbana for their support with the look (no comment) which put everyone else’s dress to shame. Harris also wore the baby version of Iman’s stunning halo headdress:

Iman told People the headpiece was easy and breezy saying it’s “not heavy at all,” and that she “fell over” when she first saw the dress. “I thought it was beautiful because it really felt hopeful, a ray of light after all the darkness we felt. So, I thought this was a perfect outfit for it.”

Whoopi showed up in Valentino which must have cost a lot–I mean, ordering all those premium curtains from Amazon must have been a nightmare. Or maybe they even hit up the luxury curtains section of Wayfair? Those shipping times are brutal!

Sharon Stone wore a glittery Thom Browne gown and cape. I hope that metallic fabric wasn’t conductive because she’s already been struck by lightning once!

And at least someone was on theme! Debbie Harry wore a deconstructed American flag gown by Zac Posen:

And then there was Lourdes Leon, who is icon-adjacent (and an icon in her mind) thanks to her assilicious mother Madonna. Madonna wasn’t there, but that didn’t stop Lourdes, who did a better Cher than Camila Cabello (but that’s not saying much), from bringing out the poses. And as for that nose scratch and sleepy eyes, maybe it isn’t what you think it is. Maybe she’s fighting a cold and just snorted some Lindsay Lohan-approved vitamins?!

What an interesting mixture of people this year’s Met Gala was. I mean can you imagine these icons looking around at art while Addison Rae is filming TikTok dances in the Medici Exhibit? Remember when the Met donors didn’t like the Met Gala guests smoking in the bathroom? What about when the TikTokers break priceless art doing the Renegade dance?
