Nicki Minaj Has Pulled Out Of The MTV VMAs And Many Are Wondering If It’s Because Of Her Husband’s Legal Issues

If there was ever a time for Nicki Minaj to wish there really were starships that could make her fly far away it’s now. Because the man she chose to marry and produce offspring with, Kenneth Petty, has brought nothing but messiness into her life. Kenneth has been convicted of manslaughter and pled guilty to first-degree attempted rape in 1994. Because of the latter, he has to register as a sex offender in whatever state he lives in. Kenneth recently got in trouble with the state of California for failing to do so. On top of that, both Kenneth and Nicki have also been sued by Jennifer Hough, his attempted rape victim, for allegedly threatening her and harassing her into changing her story. Nicki was apparently going to perform at tomorrow night’s MTV Video Music Awards (yes, it still happens every year), but has pulled out. And now some think it’s because of her husband’s legal fuckery woes and also because she might not want a process server to drop a lawsuit in her hands as she shakes her ass on stage.

A few months ago, California charged Kenneth with failing to register as a sex offender when he moved to the state in 2019 to be with his sugar mama. And this week, Kenneth pleaded guilty to the charges. He’s due to be sentenced in January and could face up to 10 years in the clink. And even though Nicki has always remained very outspoken about her marriage and Kenneth’s past for whatever reason, in this instance her lips are sealed tighter than someone who mistook Krazy Glue for ChapStick. With all the messiness surrounding her marriage to a man who’ll never be able to attend any of their kid’s school functions, fans were beginning to wonder if Nicki is still performing at the VMAs tomorrow:

In an ironic twist and change of pace, Nicki decided to not launch into a wide-eyed, wig-shaking laugh and instead offered a very succinct answer, confirming that she will not be performing at this year’s ceremony. via Us Weekly:

“I just pulled out. I’ll explain why another day. But I love those guys at MTV,” the “Starships” artist wrote, seemingly shouting out TV producer Bruce Gillmer. “Thank you Bruce. I love you so much. Next year we there baby.”

Now, there was never any announcement that Nicki would be performing in the first place, but because of Kenneth’s recent guilty plea and the Barbz desire to see their Queen stuff herself into something tight and tittylicious on the VMAs stage, I guess she figured it was time to do some damage control. But of course, it didn’t take long for her fans to realize these two incidents don’t seem like they’re mutually exclusive, and they immediately started putting two and two together like a Scooby-Doo episode when Velma yells “JINKEYS!” before solving the entire mystery.

Some of Nicki’s fans are still in a state of delusion because they believe that Nicki pulled out so that Normani could perform. Normani was announced as a performer just a couple of days ago. Others believe that Nicki pulled out because she’s trying to dodge the lawsuit from her husband’s rape victim:

The Met Gala is Monday and who knows if Nicki will show up or not. But if she does go, her stylist should make sure that whatever she wears goes perfectly with a set of freshly-served legal papers.
