Fox Is In Talks To Bring Back “24” And Would Also Love To Do A Revival Of “Glee”

You’ll never guess what Hollywood is up to! Oh, honey, you wanted a twist? Well, you’re never going to get one. The people at Fox are in “active creative discussions” to bring back 24, which starred Kiefer Sutherland. 24 has already been brought back twice: as a limited series and a remake that starred Corey Hawkins. But now Fox is thinking about how to bring Kiefer back into the world of highly-time-sensitive anxiety-inducing terrorist drama. They’re also thinking about bringing other Fox hits back like Glee! Wow, and my skin just finished growing back after crawling off from the first version of that show.

24 was created by Joel Surnow and Robert Cochran and premiered back in 2001. It followed agent Jack Bauer (Kiefer) as he tried to save the world within a 24-hour time span. The show was in real-time with each hour-long episode being an hour of Jack’s day. It was a big hit for a while and ran for eight seasons. That was followed by the 2014 limited-series 24: Live Another Day and the 2017 remake 24: Legacy starring Corey Hawkins. The remake only lasted one season.

Fox Entertainment President, Michael Thorn, talked to Deadline about their future projects and they are in talks with producers to bring back 24 again. The network is in talks with producers. 24’s executive producer Howard Gordon, also told Deadline that new takes on the series are “always percolating” but that nothing is “official.” Apparently, they’ve been tossing around a few reincarnation ideas like “a real-time legal thriller written by Gordon and Jeremy Doner and a prequel that traces the origin story of CTU agent Jack Bauer.”

President Michael also said to Deadline that he’d “love to do more” Glee. Glee was also a big hit for Fox, running for six seasons from 2009 to 2015. Later seasons saw characters graduate high school and move to New York. But after the death of Corey Monteith in 2013, creator Ryan Murphy announced the following sixth season would be the show’s last. Michael said Glee could one day come back, and that Fox is always looking for ways to reinvent their old material. I suppose making NEW material is too much to ask… He said:

“We always welcome celebrating our iconic shows and revisiting those with surprising takes and new approaches… especially in this crowded market, we’re always open to reinventing our best IP with some of our favorite partners.”

I wonder why the market could be crowded when all these networks just keep shoveling the same old shit to us year-in and year-out? I guess we’ll never know!

Like I always say: Cut out the middle man! Why remake one show? Remake them all at once! Twent-Glee-Four, the new musical action series following CTU agent Will Schuester as he tries to stop a megalomaniacal Rachel Berry from assassinating Hollywood executives after she losing the lead in a Barbra Streisand biopic.
