The Release Dates For Both “Mission: Impossible 7” And “Top Gun: Maverick” Have Been Delayed Once Again
Well fuck me, I might be starting to feel sorry for the guy. Deadline reports that the release dates for Tom Cruise’s most special babies, Mission: Impossible 7 and Top Gun 2: Bottoming Out, have been delayed once again. Tom is busting his ass, sometimes almost literally, over and over and over again, for our entertainment and for what? So he can get his car stolen and be mistaken for Lil’ Kim? Why, it’s enough to put anybody off their curry, even Tommy Two Tikkas.
Top Gun 2: Up In Flamez was originally slated to open in July of 2019, but it was delayed an entire year, presumably to give the FX crew time to digitally alter the face on Tom’s body double in the one film’s only sex scene with Jennifer Connelly. It was probably the only stunt Tom refused to do himself. Deadline reports that now, both Top Gun 2: I’ve Been Doing This Bit For Three Fucking Years Now I’m Running Out Of Ideas and M:I 7 will be pushed to 2022 to maximize global box-office profits.
After a successful launch of clips and footage at CinemaCon, Paramount is pushing its big Tom Cruise tentpoles, Top Gun: Maverick to May 27, Memorial Day weekend 2022, and Mission: Impossible 7 to Sept. 30, 2022.
Top Gun: Maverick vacates the pre-Thanksgiving weekend of Nov. 19, and takes over Mission: Impossible 7‘s previous spot of Memorial Day weekend next year, putting the sequel to the 1986 hit back in the summer, where the original first launched and grossed $357M-plus global.
Again, these are big potential billion dollar grossing franchises co-produced with Skdance which require the world to be in an ideal order, not crimped by a pandemic. Mission: Impossible alone through six movies has grossed over $3.57 billion. The most recent movie in 2018, Mission: Impossible – Fallout hit a franchise high of $791.7M at the worldwide B.O.
Please spare a thought for @TomCruiseNews on Twitter. They are taking this hit hard.
It's painful. Really, really painful. But it's the right decision. These movies deserves the biggest success, which won't happen for the rest of the year. The whole covid situation is still very dangerous.#TopGunMaverick#MissionImpossible7#TomCruise pic.twitter.com/YoP30lRwrK

That’s totally Tom’s double. It’s so obvious! But he really does do a lot himself. IndieWire reports that for M:I 7, Tom did “13,000 motor cross jumps, one year of base jump training, lots of skydiving. He’s driving off a ramp on a motorcycle, off a cliff, which will then turn into a base jump.” Here’s Tom in action during a recently filmed sequence.

L. Ron Hubbard, that was amazing! I don’t care if we have to wait through another pandemic and the second coming of Shelly Miscavige! It’s worth it!
