If you thought that another round of Drake vs. Kanye West was just about publicity and attention-seeking, you were right! Industry sources seem to believe that this beef is leading up to Drake and Kanye’s album being released on the same day and battling it out for the top stop. It seems that Kanye might release his new album Donda on the same day that Drake’s new album Certified Lover Boy comes out. Wow, these two petty messes need to call Ryan Murphy so they can start pitching actors to play them on the next season of Feud.
This fight reignited after Drake took part in a song by rapper Trippie Redd, Betrayal, where Drake rapped a verse about how Kanye was “burned out.” Ye texted his buddies and posted to Instagram about it, swearing revenge. And then Kanye posted Drake’s Toronto address which people could have probably figured out on their own with Google. Drake appeared to laugh it off in a short video but Ye might not be ready to give up the grudge so easily.
Variety says that industry sources have suggested the real reason for Donda‘s constant delays might be Drake-related. It was supposed to come out on July 23, then was pushed to August 6. Kanye has held listening parties for it, but it’s remained unreleased. But it’s not just because these two have the personality of petulant children who would have a pissing match with their records, Variety says people have really analyzed the evidence including lyrics, tweets, and other sources:
This recent battle started on July 24–the day after West’s first missed release date–when his longtime collaborator Consequence tweeted, “We looking for @Drake drop date.” Drake responded six days later, saying “Album’s cooked–Certified Lover Boy on the way, and that’s for anyone in the way,” with a “watch out” emoji. A week later, during West’s second listening session, among a couple of newly added Drake references to Drake in the lyrics, West rapped on the song “Junya,” “Move out of the way of my release.”
Drake’s album was supposed to come out in January this year and so far has no release date.
Kanye has another listening party planned for this Thursday. Previous listening parties were held at his second home of Mercedes Benz Stadium but this new party will happen at Soldier Field stadium which is also in Chicago. His label hasn’t confirmed if this party will actually result in a release, probably because they know it won’t. But apparently, Kanye has been building a replica of his childhood Chicago home in the middle of the field. Photos of a huge building getting constructed were posted online and it seems to very much resemble the 1,600 square foot home where he lived with his mom, Donda West.

I fully expect Drake to keep this juvenile battle alive and by that, I mean Drake is going to break into Soldier Field stadium to toilet paper and egg Kanye’s childhood home. That will show Kanye.
