Laura Osnes Denies She Was Fired From A Show For Refusing To Get Vaccinated

Laura Osnes won NBC’s Grease: You’re The One That I Want! in 2007 and went on to star in a plethora of Broadway shows like Grease, Anything Goes, and Bandstand. Laure was supposed to star in a one-night-only performance of Crazy For You on August 29 at Guild Hall in East Hampton. But then it was reported that she was dropped from the show for refusing to get vaccinated. That’s a lie, according to Laura herself. Laura posted to Instagram saying that no she was not fired, she stepped away willingly in a non-dramatic transition because they changed safety protocols. AKA mandated vaccines.

Laura was set to co-star in Guild Hall’s Crazy For You as Polly Baker. Laura denied being fired from the show on Instagram and instead said that there was a “drama-free and discrete transition” to actress Sierra Boggess who took over the role. This stemmed from health protocols changing. Laura says that when she first signed on, they didn’t require vaccination but then updated their protocols. Laura said she was “disappointed” to leave the show she also “stood by” her choice to not get vaccinated, which she and her husband, photographer Nathan Johnson, both seem to be doing. Laura’s choice may also have to do with her planning to get pregnant because she mentions “family planning.” And she never says the words: “Jenny McCarthy was right!” but you can pretty much guess what she means when she said:

“Every soul is entitled to live according to their convictions and work without being publicly ostracized. My conviction does not discount my care and commitment to safety during this unprecedented time… I stand by the decision my husband and I, with input from our physician, have made for ourselves, our family planning, and our future. There is much that is still unknown… I would have tested in a heartbeat–something I have been doing for months, and will continue to do, in order to keep working safely.”

Here’s her full three-page statement. Three pages? Come on, she’s not famous-famous–keep it concise!

Welp, I would love to learn who Laura’s “physician” is who she talked about this with. I don’t know if it counts if it’s Kristin Cavallari in a lab coat with a clipboard.
