Dolly Parton Co-Wrote A Novel With James Patterson And A Whole Album Of Songs To Go With It

What won’t she do!? In the past few years alone, Dolly Parton has killed then resuscitated her husband with the kiss of life dressed as a Playboy Bunny, snatched a child away from certain death, eschewed false idols, left two Presidents on read, blessed humanity with a life-saving vaccine and, in the nicest possible way, called RuPaul ugly to his face. And to the list of miracles she’s performed, we can add: getting me to read a James Patterson joint. According to USA Today, Dolly has co-authored a thriller with James called Run, Rose, Run which will be released next year along with a new album of songs inspired by the book. Thanks to Dolly, the Hudson Booksellers at your local airport just became THE place to be in 2022!

What happens when one of the world’s greatest and most celebrated songwriters joins forces with the world’s most prolific contributor to vacation rental discarded book repositories? Well, we’re about to find out! USA Today reports:

“Run, Rose, Run,” which the country music icon is writing with bestselling author James Patterson, will be released by Little, Brown and Company on March 7, 2022. An album based on the book will also be released alongside the novel.

The 400-page novel is “a thriller about a young singer-songwriter on the rise and on the run, and determined to do whatever it takes to survive,” according to Little, Brown and Company’s website.

“Nashville is where she’s come to claim her destiny. It’s also where the darkness she’s fled might find her. And destroy her,” the site adds.

Although the book marks the “Jolene” singer’s first novel, it isn’t her first foray into literary works. Parton has authored multiple books, including a coffee table book last year telling stories behind more than 170 of her songs.

Man do I love it when Dolly gets all dark and twisty. I’m still waiting for someone to make a movie based on her song Evening Shade about a pack of murderous orphans. So I will be pre-ordering, and not just because Dolly told me to.

Dolly could have just given us a children’s book like so many other celebrities, and it would have made sense given that she’s donated over 100 MILLION free books to kids through her Imagination Library project. But Dolly is, first and foremost, an ethereal spirit with incredible jugs emanating love, light, and glamour the likes of which the world will likely never see again. And second to that, she’s a storyteller. So yes, I will be buying the cheapest ticket going anywhere so I can get through airport security and cop that shit as soon as possible.
