Miley Cyrus Offered To Educate DaBaby On His Homophobic Comments
As you may recall, music festivals and events have been playing a game of hot potato with DaBaby‘s career, except instead of standing in a circle and passing him around, they each just slap that hot potato away and step back. DaBaby became a poisonous commodity after he appeared at the Rolling Loud festival in Miami and rolled loud in homophobia, sexism, and stigmatizing sentiments of HIV/AIDS. He’s apologized twice–once after trolling the shit out of his haters and then once again after he suffered consequences. But now he’s really gonna learn because one LGBTQIA+ regular has offered to educate DaBaby on all things gay. Get ready for Gay Shit 101 taught by *checks notes* Miley Cyrus… Well… I mean… hopefully, she’ll just re-read what Elton John already explained.
DaBaby’s comments at Rolling Loud included some mess about women’s vaginas smelling like water and how people with HIV/AIDS die in a matter of days. It was a bizarre lil’ monologue and because of it, he was dropped from a plethora of music festivals, like Lollapalooza, Day N Vegas, and the iHeart Radio Music Festival–to name a few. DaBaby’s first apology came after the initial comments but it was more of a “LOL, yeah, sorry, whatever,”-type scenario, and the one that followed after the loss of his paychecks was clearly an “OMG, I’m actually being punished! WTF, I’m totally sincerely sorry!”-type scenario.
Miley seems interested in getting actual change out of DaBaby. People says that Miley, who publicly identified as pansexual in 2015, hopped on Instagram to post about DaBaby, letting him know she had slid into his DMs to educate him if he was willing. Saying she’d rather not “cancel” him (never happens) she’d prefer to talk it out, writing in part:
“As a proud and loyal member of the LGBTQIA+ community, much of my life has been dedicated to encouraging love, acceptance, and open mindedness. The internet can fuel a lot of hate & anger and is the nucleus of cancel culture…but I believe it can also be a place filled with education, conversation, communication, & connection.”
She told DaBaby that together they could help make a “just and understanding future!” Here’s her post:
Miley is not the first to take a crack at this, as Elton John tried explaining to DaBaby his harmful stigmatizing misinformation about HIV/AIDS, as well as Madonna who explained his shitty “facts” about HIV/AIDS were way way way off. And Miley is an interesting choice as DaBaby’s LGBTQ sage. Because it wasn’t too long ago that she was spewing out dumb shit about gayness. Like after she got with Cody Simpson in 2019, she said that always thought she “had to be gay” because men are evil but then told everyone that “you don’t have to be gay. There are good people with dicks out there.” Miley needs lessons herself! But maybe Queer Professor Miley will sit DaBaby down in the classroom and say, “You know that stupid shit I said in 2019 about not having to be gay? The first lesson is, don’t say that.”
