Jenna Dewan Said That Channing Tatum Was Not Around For Weeks After The Birth Of Their Daughter

Channing Tatum may be a super-ripped girl dad of debatable acting talent who wrote a book about how sweet a dad and his daughter can be, but he may have actually missed out on a lot of the early moments of his daughter, Everly‘s, life. Jenna Dewan was on an episode of Dear Gabby with author and podcaster, Gabby Bernstein, and she revealed that after she gave birth to their daughter, Channing “wasn’t available” because of his work schedule (Magic Mike had become a hit the year before) and she was all on her own working with a new baby. That’s so sad, daddy was out working the pole while Jenna was taking care of their child!

Jenna and Channing broke up in 2018 after almost ten years of marriage, and since then she got with Steve Kazee and had a baby with him: 16-month-old Callum Michael Rebel. And it seems that her baby experience the second time around was a lot better than the first because Jenna said that with Everly she had “a lot of postpartum anxiety.” After the birth of Everly in 2013, Jenna kept working and so did Channing. But that meant they had to travel often and it got to be a lot for Jenna, who says that she did have help from her doula. via People:

“I had to travel with her and at the time, Chan wasn’t available to be with us for the most part. So, it was me, my doula, and Evie all by ourselves traveling at six weeks.”

Jenna said that the motherhood/work balance was “really hard,” with her being on set for so many “long hours.” The experience left with her a lot of anxiety post-partum:

“I did have her on set with me constantly. It was just really difficult… It was like, I just never stopped. You know, you’re up a couple times in the night and then you’re working all day. I was breastfeeding, I was pumping, I was without a partner, I mean it was just craziness.”

But baby number two was easier. Jenna said she was “so grounded,” and that raising a kid with a partner during a pandemic was kind of cozy:

“Even though the world was crazy, I was home and in this love nest and it was different.”

Channing Tatum has said before that he should train to become a better actor so he can work out less since many of the roles he takes requires him to be a buffed-up hot piece. So according to Jenna, while Channing was lifting weights, he wasn’t doing any lifting when it came to helping to take care of his new baby. Channing should’ve merged the two. Use that baby as a weight! Put that by to work!
