Here’s The Full Trailer For Camila Cabello’s Girlboss “Cinderella”
I don’t think Camila Cabello is going to be getting in line behind Scarlett Johansson to sue her studio anytime soon because the trailer for her new Cinderella movie for Amazon Prime is out, and had they released this shit in theaters as originally planned, the theaters would probably all have to shut down all over again. Because we saw what happened the last time James Corden was let loose on the big screen. Now I’m not saying Cats caused the pandemic, I’m just saying we can’t be too careful.
According to Variety, Cinderella is “the latest retelling of the classic fairytale.” What is the point, you ask? Well, this one’s different! Prince Robert (played by Nicholas Galitzine) is incidental here as Cinderella “dreams of building her own fashion empire.” That’s right, Camilla’s “Ella” (no “cinder” this time, or you rude and nasty people will accuse her of blackface again!) is a girlboss!
The upcoming movie, which debuts on Amazon Prime Video in September, gives a modern spin on the familiar story about an orphan forced to live with her evil stepmother and wicked stepsisters. In this version, the ambitious protagonist, who goes by Ella, is no damsel in distress. She desires to be a seamstress and one day launch her own dress line — naysayers be damned.
Sony produced “Cinderella” and initially planned to release the film in theaters. However, the studio opted to skip the big screen and instead license “Cinderella” to Amazon as the movie theater industry struggles to recover from the pandemic. It will debut on the streaming service on Sept. 3.
Here’s the trailer which opens with a stirring all-hands-on-hay dance number set to Rhythm Nation and just gets worser and weirder from there. **Spoiler Alert** Camilla still looks a drowsy, disheveled mess even after her “Fab G” (played by Billy Porter) makeover, so I ask this once again — WHAT IS THE POINT?!
