DaBaby Issued Another DaApology For His Homophobic Comments After Losing Gigs Left And Right

Homophobic rapper DaBaby (which is ironic since Joe Exotic is obviously one of his style icons) is sorry for being loudly homophobic and ignorant about HIV and AIDS. But coincidentally this man’s newfound wokeness and eagerness to apologize has come after he’s been dropped from a variety of undoubtedly high-paying gigs. Too bad his apology came a bit too late, and two more festivals told him to not bother showing up for his next shift. Time for DaBaby to hit DaUnemploymentLine.

At last month’s Rolling Loud music festival, DaBaby decided to use his time on stage to chime in with some opinions on women whose “pussy smell like water” and how he loves them. However, men who are “sucking dick in the parking lot” are not something DaBaby is a fan of and he did not want them to put their cell phones up. Also not allowed to put their cellphones up were people with HIV, as he didn’t want to be around something “that’ll make you die in two or three weeks.”

But listen, DaBaby sort of apologized. Yahoo Entertainment pointed out that in his first apology, he showed remorse about his HIV/AIDS comments and said of the LGBTQ community, “I ain’t trippin on y’all, do you. Y’all business is y’all business.” That fake apology didn’t do much. DaBaby lost a campaign with the clothing brand boohooMAN, and was dropped from several music festivals including Lollapalooza, the Governors Ball, and Day N Vegas. Variety says DaBaby soon posted another apology and put this comments-restricted bullshit up to Instagram where he seems to blame social media for how fast it will call out egregious hatred. You see he need time to be educated–and as we know, nothing teaches a lesson better than a lost paycheck:

But DaBaby should have acted DaSooner, because even though he apologized, he was still dropped from the Austin City Limits Festival and the iHeartRadio Music Festival. He’s also not performing at the Can’t Wait: Live! benefit concert in Philadelphia and the Parklife Festival in Manchester. On top of that, he’s been called out by Elton John, Madonna, Questlove, and even one-time collaborator Dua Lipa.

But so far, DaBaby hasn’t been dropped by the Hot Jamz 103 Summer Jam in Kansas or Hot 97’s Summer Jam at Met Life Stadium in New Jersey.

It’s amazing that it took this homophobia to get DaBaby dropped from gigs. You’d think that the risk of him slapping an attendee at any given moment would have given people pause earlier.
