Stephen Dorff Is Sorry For His Comments About Scarlett Johannson And For Trashing “Black Widow”

Stephen Dorff must have learned the hard way that one does not talk shit about Colin Jost’s wife and get away with it! TMZ reports that Stephen has apologized for criticizing Black Window and its star Scarlett Johansson for appearing in it earlier this month in an interview with The Independent. Now Stephen says his words were “taken a little bit out of context,” but did not offer additional context for his comment that “It looks like garbage to me. I’m embarrassed for Scarlett!” I can’t believe he had to apologize for that! We’re all embarrassed for Scarlett. *See also Stephen Dorff.

TMZ caught Stephen as he was leaving a restaurant looking like he had just got done with a 16-hour shift as a dishwasher. That’s what happens when you come for Colin Jost’s wife, buddy. With Colin’s reach, Stephen’s lucky he’s employed at all.

Stephen Dorff has gone from a “shit-talking” mood to mea culpa mode … saying he feels bad for trashing Scarlett Johansson and her Marvel film.

We got the veteran actor leaving Porta Via in L.A. and wondered what he had to say weeks after the premiere of “Black Widow” and nearly a month after he teed off on ScarJo and practically everything about Hollywood.

The “Blade” star could do nothing but sing Scarlett’s praises … and he explained his interview with the U.K.’s Independent outlet was “taken a little bit out of context.”

So, what triggered Stephen? He seems to point the finger at the reporter “[that guy in England] got me in a moment where I was shit talking a little bit.”

So what, the guy was hiding behind the bar and jumped out and said “Gotcha! This is going in the profile!

When, after saying “I’m not a fan” of Black Widow, TMZ asked if he’d seen it and Stephen responded “I haven’t” adding “I don’t really go to those movies, I like Iron Man. I love it when they go a little darker, I love The Joker, I’m looking forward to the new Batman.” One might assume based on these comments that Stephen doesn’t actually have a problem with superhero movies in general, just the ones with too many ladies in them. But fear not! Stephen is practically a feminist, he qualified his apology by saying “I love scarlet, I heard she was going to be a mom so I wish her all the best.” And she’s not even heavily pregnant yet! The power Colin Jost has is actually a bit frightening.

And to his further credit, in a true feat of restraint, Stephen did not break into tears as he said he was excited for the new Blade starring his True Detective season 3 co-star Mahershala Ali even though he said he didn’t think he’ll make an appearance in it, saying “it was a long time ago.” Here’s Stephen’s interview. And I urge you, please stick around for the very end to hear Stephen’s biggest fan shout “BLADE!” as his car pulls away. It’s magical and it’s my new ringtone.
