Bob Odenkirk Was Rushed To The Hospital After Collapsing While Filming “Better Call Saul”

Something scary happened yesterday on the set of Better Call Saul’s sixth season. Multiple news outlets are reporting that Bob Odenkirk, the Saul in Better Call Saul (or I guess technically the Jimmy McGill, Gene Takovic, Charlie Hustle, or Kevin Costner, but that’s not what’s important here), collapsed while shooting, and was taken to hospital.

TMZ reports that 58-year-old Bob Odenkirk collapsed on set in New Mexico yesterday, and crew immediately rushed to his side, calling an ambulance, and whisking him off to get help. He was hospitalized, where he continues to receive medical attention.

Sources say that it’s not exactly clear what happened, but really, all that matters is that Bob is in the hospital and that he’s got the Land of Enchantment’s best doctors and nurses by his side. It’s also not known how far into filming they were, or if Bob’s absence will delay anything. The sixth and final season of Better Call Saul will be 13 episodes long and is scheduled to premiere sometime early in 2022 on AMC. Variety reached out to Bob’s reps and AMC, but no one had anything to say. But, Bob’s former Breaking Bad co-star Bryan Cranston said he’s hoping for the best:

When I first saw that Bob Odenkirk collapsed in New Mexico, I immediately wondered if it was the heat that got to him. Because my cold-weather Canadian ass actually loves heat like a lizard, and I was extremely excited to go to New Mexico a couple of years ago. And the second I stepped out of my car, I felt like a frozen DiGiorno pizza being thrown in a pre-heated oven. It was HOT. According to the internet, Albuquerque saw a high of 86 degrees yesterday. But it’s not known if they were filming in Albuquerque.

And if you’re a Bob fan from way back, then you probably didn’t need Bryan’s suggestion. You probably already pulled out all your DVDs of The Ben Stiller Show and Mr. Show (I know you still have them), laid your hands on them and prayed for a healthy recovery. If praying isn’t your thing, then there are the good thoughts. And what better way to send some good vibes and positive energy out into the universe by laughing at what is arguably one of the funniest and most-quotable sketches from the second season of Netflix’s I Think You Should Leave. May Bob be blessed with doubles and triples of every kind of recovery.
