Fergie Thinks She Was Snubbed From Prince William And Duchess Kate’s Wedding Because She Was Not “Worthy” Of An Invite

When second in line to the British throne Prince William married party supply heiress Catherine Middleton back in April 2011, it felt like everyone had been invited to the royal wedding event of the century. Except there was one famous royal-adjacent face that was nowhere to be seen, and that would be Prince William’s Aunt Fergie. Sarah Ferguson, the Duchess of York, didn’t get an invite to William and Kate’s wedding, even though her ex-husband Prince Andrew did, as well as her two daughters, William’s cousins Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie. Fergie says she thinks she got snubbed for the very Wayne Campbell/Garth Algar reason: she wasn’t worthy!

Fergie tells Town & Country magazine that there was no mistake. Her invitation was not lost in the mail. She really didn’t get invited to William and Kate’s wedding, on purpose. So she did what any regular rich person would do: she avoided feeling bummed about it by packing a carry-on and hauling ass to a warm-weather resort. via Entertainment Tonight:

“I didn’t think I was probably worthy to go to their wedding,” Ferguson tells Town & Country. “I took myself to Thailand, actually, to be far away from it so that I could try and heal.”

Fergie’s absence from William and Kate’s wedding burned extra sore because the last royal wedding to be held at Westminster Abbey before the Cambridges was Fergie’s own 1986 royal wedding to Prince Andrew (they’d end up getting divorced a decade later in 1996). Fergie ended up getting invited to Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s wedding in May 2018. Now for some possible draaaaamaaaa regarding all this. Entertainment Tonight notes that William and Kate’s wedding took place just a year after Fergie was caught on camera trying to sell business access to Prince Andrew to a News of the World journalist for £500,000. There have been reports that Duchess Kate has snubbed Princess Beatrice at events. The Cambridges were social media silent when Beatrice got engaged to Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi. Then, when Beatrice and Edoardo got married, William and Kate were MIA.

William and Kate’s 10-year-old wedding snub isn’t the only snub Fergie has experienced recently. From what we’ve gathered through rumors, the Royal Family isn’t that thrilled about Netflix broadcasting their allegedly fictional family drama across a half-dozen seasons on The Crown. But there’s one Royal Family member who enthusiastically threw up their hand and volunteered to give The Crown some notes from the inside, and that’s…do I even have to say it? Come on, it was obviously Fergie. via People magazine:

Despite a brief glimpse of her 1986 wedding to Prince Andrew, the Duchess of York told Town & Country in their most recent digital cover story that she couldn’t help but half-jokingly ask, “Hello? Where is Fergie?”

So she emailed executive producer Andy Harries, she reveals: “I said to him, ‘Why can’t I help my character?'”

Though the show didn’t take Ferguson up on her offer, she is still a fan, telling US Weekly earlier this year that “it was filmed beautifully. The cinematography was excellent.”

I think I know why William and Kate didn’t send out a wedding invite and an RSVP card to Fergie’s house ten years ago. They didn’t hate her, they just didn’t want her selling details of the wedding to the highest bidder! It’s not like William and Kate’s wedding was a secret, but you know Fergie would have found something to make a buck off of. “For $2000 I’ll tell you if the cake was any good, for $3000 I’ll grab you a copy of the menu, and for an even $10,000 I’ll tell you if Carole Middleton tried to sneak some extra shrimp cocktail into her handbag.
