Grimes’ New Song Is About “Defeating” Azealia Banks
Remember the random time when Grimes, her boyfriend Elon Musk, and rapper-slash-pot stirrer Azealia Banks got in an alleged threesome gone wrong, and much more? Well, Grimes clearly hasn’t forgotten it. It might have been slowly picking at her for years, and she’s finally ready to speak her truth and finally bury the big, messy rumor (and Azealia Banks). And she’s doing it through (jazz hands) SONG. Don’t worry about Azealia, though. She was able to fire back and accuse Grimes of being bitter and jealous of Azealia’s talent.
Back in August 2018, Azealia hopped on social media and claimed that she’d been stuck inside Elon Musk’s mansion for days, waiting for Grimes to arrive and begin a recording session. When Grimes and Elon finally showed up, it got weird. Azealia claimed that Grimes had to warn Elon not to tweet while high on acid, accused Grimes of blabbing about Elon’s personal life, alleged that Elon only got with Grimes because he didn’t want to feel embarrassed in front of his ex Amber Heard at the Met Gala, and suspiciously questioned whether Azealia was flown out from New York to Los Angeles because Elon and Grimes wanted a threesome.
Then Azealia accused Elon of having hair plugs, using steroids, financially benefiting from colonialism in South Africa, and having skin like Oscar Meyers finest pork. As for Grimes, Azealia called her a junkie and an “idiot.” Later on, she posted multiple rounds of alleged text messages between herself and Grimes that were reportedly sent prior to Azealia’s west coast visit. In the texts, Grimes allegedly bragged to Azealia about Elon having a big dick.
Grimes never responded to Azealia, but Elon’s rep said he’d never met Azealia or communicated with her. A little less than a year later, it was said that both Grimes and Azealia would be served with subpoenas regarding a class-action lawsuit filed against Elon after he tweeted private Tesla information. Prosecutors believed that Grimes and Azealia had been talking about Elon’s private business information together.
But what we’re talking about here is Grimes’ new music. On Friday, Grimes released a song titled 100% Tragedy a song that absolutely wasn’t bankrolled by her boyfriend. While discussing the song in a Discord chat that followed a virtual performance at the Splendour XR music festival, Grimes explained that the song is about that messy situation with Azealia. via Entertainment Weekly:
Grimes revealed that the track “is about having to defeat azealia banks when she tried to destroy my life,” a likely reference to their public debacle from three years ago.
Tried to destroy your life? If no one has yet been successful in destroying your boyfriend for union-busting and alleged toxic workplace practices, I don’t think your rich girlfriend existence was at much risk of getting blown down by some Instagram stories. Not then at least.
If you ask Azealia now, Grimes might have reason to sweat Azealia’s social media activity. via EW:
The rapper evidently heard about Grimes’ new comments and slammed the singer in her Instagram Stories.
“So you go make a bootleg @inna song about it. Yikes,” she wrote. “Grimes def has some psychosexual obsession with me. i think it’s bitterness cuz she doesn’t have the musical capacity i have. everything she does is out of pretentiousness and it comes out like that … while everything i do is out of natural swag & geniusness lmaoo. Starting to notice all the weird undercover millennial racists hide out on discord.”
On Sunday, Banks also posted and soon deleted a Story that said “really thought I did you a favor by not responding to that subpoena….., i just May happen to have all those extra texts/screenshots/evidence Laying around somewhere………….”
So maybe those prosecutors were right in believing that Azealia and Grimes were chatting about Elon’s possible illegal business-related activities together.
Grimes hasn’t responded to Azealia’s latest claim, possibly because she’s putting the finishing touches on her album. Or maybe it’s because she’s frantically telling Elon to gas up the rocket with enough fuel to get them to Mars. “Hurry Elon, Azealia has threatened to release texts that might prove we’re all messes, not just her! We need to get out of here ASAP!”
