Macy, the Canadian Yorkie who fought off a coyote trying to mess with her!
There’s a good reason why Macy looks like she’s saying, “neener neener neener, you didn’t get me trick!”, in that screenshot above. That’s because she successfully kept a coyote from sending her on a trip to the afterworld. Macy has now joined other little coyote-fighting pooches in the toy dog chapter of The Not The One Club.
People brings us the story of Macy who was caught on camera tussling with a coyote that wanted to kill her. While Macy was on a walk with one of her humans near their home in Toronto, a coyote saw its dinner and chased after her. When Macy’s 10-year-old human knew the coyote was coming after them, she ran fast and later dropped Macy’s leash, leaving Macy to take on the coyote herself. Macy did not have time to Crisco up her face, stick razors in her hair, and go home to grab her shank made out of a stale piece of jerky, so she had to use her natural fighting skills to keep from ending up in that coyote’s mouth. Security footage shows the coyote catching up with Macy and Macy putting up a fight. The coyote was not ready for the defensive beat down that Macy laid on it and ran off as Macy barked, “Ding! Ding! Ding! That’s what I thought!”
Macy didn’t walk away from the attack without injuries, though. Macy’s torso and leg got busted up and she needed surgery for her wounds. Dorothy, Macy’s other human and the girl’s mother, set up a GoFundMe to help pay for her treatment. Dorothy believes that Macy was trying to protect her daughter. via People:
“My dog would do anything for our family, so I’m actually not surprised that she did that,” Dorothy told News 6. “I would never guess that a coyote, you know, would come out during the day and especially with someone screaming and yelling it still was not fazed, it just kept coming after her and our dog, you know, despite all the yelling, it was quite aggressive.”
“She’s our little hero,” she added of Macy.
“Oh yes, yes, I was trying to protect my human and not trying to protect myself from a coyote who wanted to murder me… yeah, let’s go with that,” said Macy. Here’s the security camera footage:
Something tells me that a purchase for a spiky protective dog vest is about to be made in Toronto. No, Dorothy isn’t going to buy one for Macy. That coyote is going to buy one for itself just in case it runs into Bad Ass Macy again!
