Kanye West Hosted A Listening Party for “Donda” But As Usual, Is Late Releasing It

Last night, Kanye West hosted a superspreader event in Atlanta for his new album Donda. Kanye stood on a white tarp in the middle of the Mercedes Benz Stadium with a pair of nude pantyhose over his head, occasionally wiggling and pointing, as a crowd of thousands got their first listen of his 10th studio album which was supposed to have come out at midnight. As in 12:00 AM July 24th, 2020. But also last night. As of yet, no album has been released but those lucky enough to have been at the listening party heard a new song featuring Jay-Z and had the opportunity to purchase $50 chicken tenders.  At one point Kanye cried a little. Kim and Khloe Kardasian were also there.

People reports that Kim not only showed up with the kids, but she and Kanye also appeared to have coordinated their outfits.

Kardashian’s four children with the 44-year-old rapper — daughters North, 8, and Chicago, 3, plus sons Saint, 5½, and Psalm, 2 — were also spotted in the crowd for the occasion, as well as sister Khloé Kardashian.

For the family outing, Kim rocked a red jumpsuit and completed her look with matching boots.

Meanwhile, Kanye appeared to coordinate with the SKIMs founder in red full snowsuit of his own. He added Yeezy 1020 boots to his look and wore a stocking-like mask over his face.

Ladies and gentlemen, I present you with our nation’s premiere Christian Genius Billionaire (Kanye West division only).

In addition to the melodrama and fashion, there was also some music to be heard. According to Vulture, Donda, when and if it ever actually comes out, features Kanye and Jay-Z’s first collaboration since Beyoncé decided the Kardashians were too trashy to be seen with in public.

In their first collaboration since Jay-Z’s underwhelming cameo on Drake’s “Pop Style” back in 2016, The Throne has reunited on Kanye West’s latest album, Donda. The album, live-streamed on Thursday night from a listening event in Atlanta, closes with the Jay-Z feature. “I’ll be honest, we all liars,” West warns on the pre-chorus, before Jay-Z reveals, “This might be the return of the throne.” The pair, who have been feuding for a while now, appear to have made amends — maybe even as late as today, as Young Guru revealed on Twitter.

“HOV did the verse today!!!! At 4pm,” he tweeted, and Jay was likely not the only last-minute addition to the project.

According to The New York Times, in the song, Jay-Z references Kanye’s “red cap” phase.

While an official track list has not been released, the songs played during the listening session featured guest appearances from rappers including Pusha T, Lil Baby and, perhaps most surprisingly, Jay-Z. Despite their close relationship early in West’s career, they had been open about the strain in their friendship in recent years. The new collaboration teased a “return of the throne,” nodding to the pair’s joint album “Watch the Throne a decade ago. One Jay-Z lyric appeared to reference West’s onetime support for President Trump: “Hold up, Donda, I’m with your baby when I touch back road/told him stop all of that red cap, we goin’ home.”

Here’s a clip from that song.

Sounds like if the Carters play their cards right, they’ll be back in the inner circle in no time!

So while there is still no album to support all this hullabaloo, Kanye did receive a special plaque from the city of Atlanta proclaiming July 22 Kanye West Day. Kanye was born there and his late mother, after whom the album is named, “began her career as a professor at Morris Brown College in Atlanta in the 1970s.” Here’s that ceremony. Keep an eye out for a surprise appearance by Kim’s ass! In general, yes, but also here specifically.

And when he’s president, Kanye’s probably going to make it a national holiday.
