Dr. Dre Will Have To Pay His Ex-Wife More than $3.5 Million A Year In Temporary Spousal Support

It seemed for a while that Dr. Dre’s divorce battle with his wife of 24 years, Nicole Young, was going to end, mostly because she wanted a lot of money, and he didn’t want to give it to her. But it looks like Dr. Dre and Nicole were able to come to a financial compromise FOR NOW. After more than a year of penny-pinching, Nicole is walking away with a spousal support agreement to the tune of $293,306 a month. But the fight over money isn’t over.

Originally, when Dr. Dre and Nicole first started fighting over his money, Nicole came in hot with a demand of $2 million a month, which was a decent divorce strategy, considering Dr. Dre’s net worth is about $800 million. She also decided to play dirty by asking Dr. Dre if he had any secret kids out there that he didn’t want anyone to know about, or secret mistresses on the payroll. She also accused him of abuse. Dr. Dre fired back with an accusation of embezzlement and dumb spending on Nicole’s part.

Dr. Dre must have a horseshoe stored somewhere in his lower colon area because the judge handling their money fight keeps blessing Dr. Dre and Dr. Dre’s bank accounts with good luck. First, their judge denied Nicole’s request for Dr. Dre to pay her legal bills and security detail (she wanted $5 million for legal expenses and $1.5 million for security guards, a judge handed her $2 million as a temporary stop-gap). The Blast says that recently, the judge ruled that starting August 1st, 2021, Dr. Dre will be legally required to pay Nicole $293,306 a month in temporary spousal support.

According to legal documents, obtained by The Blast, the music mogul and his ex-wife were both in court for a hearing this week, hashing out specifics of how much will be paid in temporary spousal support. In the order, Dr. Dre was ordered to pay $293,306 per month to his ex-wife, which is due on the first of every month.

“[Dre] is ordered to pay to the [Nicole] spousal support in the sum of $293,306.00 per month, payable on the first of each month, commencing August 1, 2021,” the order states. If you do the math, that is a whopping $3,519,672 a year in support, not including other expenses.

Their money fight was never about child support, because Dr. Dre and Nicole’s two kids, son Truice, 24, and daughter Truly, 20, are adults.

This is only temporary, though. There’s still the matter of the prenup, which Nicole claims Dr. Dre tore up years ago in a show of love. Dr. Dre wants it upheld. Nicole reportedly wants half of Dre’s fortune and claimed in court documents that their monthly expenses are $2.3 million. So Nicole wants to continue to live the lavish life she lived while married to Dre. So this is far from over.

It should be noted, the rapper and his ex-wife are currently negotiating an overall settlement of their divorce, and the amount of money be paid by Dre is temporary. In other words, we are guessing after the couple agrees on a lump sum payment to be paid to Nicole by Dre, the monthly payment may cease to exist. In many wealthy celebrity cases, a divorce settlement will include any future payments to an ex-spouse.

Along with receiving more than $3.5 million every year in temporary spousal support, Nicole will also have her health insurance paid by Dre. He will also still have to pay for the expenses on her homes in Malibu and the Pacific Palisades. And, she’ll get spousal support until she remarries or enters into a domestic partnership.

Nearly $300,000 a month is a lot, a lot of money, but Dr. Dre better look out. Because Nicole may suddenly declare that the floor joists in her walk-in closet have a weight distribution issue that can only be solved by offsetting the structure problem with about 100 pounds of brand-new Louboutins. Size 8.5, please!
