Playwright Jeremy O. Harris Got Yelled At On Twitter By Aurora Perrineau’s Dad For Defending Lena Dunham
Just because there were hardly any Black people in Girls, that doesn’t mean Lena Dunham doesn’t have any Black friends in real life. No really, she does! One such friend, playwright Jeremy O. Harris who co-wrote the script for the Zola movie, rolled out of bed yesterday and posted an impassioned defense of his “good sis” Lena, praising her writing and chastising people for talking about her adding that she’s “human & made mistakes.” Jeremy was quickly reminded that those “mistakes” included lying that she had “inside information” and publicly discredited actor Aurora Perrineau and her claims that Lena’s friend and Girls writer Murray Miller had raped her when she was 17. While Jeremy may have forgiven and forgot, Aurora’s dad Harold Perrineau thinks Jeremy should shut his “FUCKING MOUTH.”
Here’s Jeremy’s seemingly unprovoked Tweet. He should probably change his Twitter handle from Most Tony Nominated Onehit Wonder Jeremy O. Harris (true, Slave Play was nominated for 12) to The World’s One And Only Lena Dunham Stan Account.

IN THE NAME OF RIHANNA I REBUKE THEE! As you can imagine, some folks pointed out that Lena has not always been the best of allies to people of color. Especially when it came to essentially calling Aurora a liar.
This was not to dismiss the harm but, to me, state a fact that she’s a human and was a young one at that with a big platform learning in front of a lot of us who wanted many disparate things from her at once.
Did she pull them all off? No.
Yet the girl can write which I love.

By this point, Jeremy was still sitting there with a cold plate of rice in front of him gathering flies but instead of getting down to the business of eating his food, he kept on with his vigorous defense of “her?”
You might still be triggered by what was said during the after math but know that you don’t know all the levels of atonement and healing that are still ongoing in the situation. And perhaps respect the survivor by keeping her name out of your umbrage.

Of course, Lena did eventually apologize to Aurora, even going so far as to drag her “dear friend” Brittany Perrineau, Aurora’s mother, on stage with her at VIP Women in Hollywood gala for the Hollywood Reporter. But Aurora’s dad decided it was time to flip Jeremy’s plate all the way off the table.
