“Bridgerton” Is Among Several Shows That Had To Be Shut Down Due To COVID-19 Outbreaks

Not that it matters since we’re all probably going to be dead next year anyway but production on season 2 of Bridgerton has been halted indefinitely due to the ongoing pandemic that is determined to see us all dead by next year. According to Deadline, for the second time in a week, Netflix has had to shut down production on its big butts and bustles blockbuster due to a positive COVID-19 test. Bridgerton shoots in England where two other productions, Netflix’s Matilda based on the Broadway musical and HBO’s Game Of Thrones prequel House of The Dragon, have also been shut down due to COVID. At this rate, the surviving population of the coronapocalypse is going to have nothing but reruns of the Friends reunion to watch next season and that’s only if they can fend off the parasitic mutant anti-vaxxers who roam the wasteland in search of a host.

According to Deadline:

Netflix has halted Bridgerton’s Season 2 shoot for the second time in a week after another positive Covid test hit the wildly popular Regency-era drama, Deadline can reveal.

We hear that Netflix has paused production for an indefinite period of time as the streamer and producers at Shondaland establish a timetable for a safe return amid the Delta variant of coronavirus surging across the UK.

Netflix declined to comment on whether it was a cast or crew member who has contracted the virus, though the indefinite length of the hiatus will lead to speculation that it could be an actor. Either way, the individual is now isolating.

Deadline also says that the Matilda shutdown, which “could last as long as 10 days,” was due to a positive test on its first filming unit, but that the second unit is still shooting. The House of The Dragon production “has been paused for two days after a positive case in zone A, which includes cast and crew.” Do you know how hard it is to get an accurate temperature check on a dragon? Damn near impossible. No wonder they’re in the shit.

Of course, these latest shutdowns come just as the UK is set to observe “Freedom Day,Prime Minister Boris Johnson’s “go-for-it gambit” “to end almost all legal requirements to maintain coronavirus social distancing measures in England.” Not sure how to celebrate Freedom Day? Well, you can take your cue from Boris who is celebrating Freedom Day in quarantine. via Deadline:

While the British government is continuing to push ahead with reopening the country on Monday, the virus is rising in the UK; nearly 52,000 people tested positive for coronavirus in England on Friday, while there were 49 deaths and Prime Minister Boris Johnson and Chancellor of the Exchequer Rishi Sunak were forced to go into self-isolation following contact with health secretary Sajid Javid, who tested positive for the coronavirus.

Boris is probably spending his Delta Variant Quoronatine (™) watching reruns of the Friends reunion. Not because that’s the only mid-coronapocalypse show available, but because he is a colossal goober.
